Operating like a waffle iron, this appliance bakes two of the thin, round, 5-inch waffle cookies Italians call pizzelles. Four recipes and three variations are included with the unit. The cookies display a floral design on each side imprinted by the nonstick cooking grids. Powered by a 1,000-watt heating element and solidly constructed of cast aluminum for even heat distribution and retention, the pizzelle maker has a polished lid and stay-cool handle. A ready light signals when the grids are hot enough for baking. A clip locks the handle during baking; it also allows the user to store the appliance on end. A cord wrap prevents clutter. This is a real easy review to write. I mean, the thing makes cookies. It arrived, I unpacked it, and made about a zillion pizzelle's. I made regular ones, anise ones, almond ones, lemon ones, Amaretto ones, Nocello ones...you name it, I made it. The thing did just what it said it would do. It heated up, and made cookies. They said try 30 to 45 seconds, I found 1 minute more to my liking. After the initial heating up, I never had to stop. It never made me wait to reheat. The cookies never stuck to the grille, and the results of all of the cookies was the same. From first to last, the cookies came out consistently perfect.I paid ten dollars more for this model than the other Villaware for two reasons. First, it's the new model, so I'm sure the older model will be going away, and second, this model has a 3 year warranty instead of the 1 year warranty on the older model. Well worth the ten dollar difference.

I never had a pizzelle baker before, but I love pizzelles, so when this showed up in the gold box, I decided to give it a try. I love it! It works great, the pizzelles don't stick and clean up is easy. It is also designed well, so it doesn't take up much space to store it. It comes with a few recipes and ideas for variations, which is all I've used so far. They are very good.

if you want your friends and family to feel the love, this is the kitchen tool to have!! my grandmother (god bless her soul) came to America from Poland and married a man who had come from Italy. She was the best cook this world could have ever known. I grew up with Pizzells since i was very young. After her passing i was shopping and i found this Pizzelle baker and i just about cried. It makes the same italian cookie that i grew up with. Light and gently sweet. Such a beautiful cookie. art work. it is well made and very rich looking. i can bring it anywhere and spread the smiles as i knew growing up watching my grandmother cook hundreds of these for every one. Wonderful recipes were included with the maker. my favorite is the recipe with anise seed extract. thank you uno for bringing the memory back!!! tmarie
