The Best Belgian Waffle Iron!, July 31, 2003
This review is from: VillaWare V2170 UNO 6 At-A-Time Waffler (Kitchen)
I recently bought this waffle iron after others that were either not high enough wattage (soft/wimpy exterior) or so small, you became a waffle turner outer for the family. This waffle iron has the 2 most important things needed for good waffles: more than 1000 watts (1400) and capacity for more than one! It also works pretty fast. Bottom line: It made nice crispy waffles with cloud-like interiors. Helpful hint: Use 1 tsp yeast (as they do in Belgium) per 3 cups of flour and let stand for 1 hour (or overnight in fridge) in your recipe (+1C milk, 1C water, 3 eggs, 2/3C sugar, 1/2C melted Butter, 1/2tsp salt, 1tsp vanilla, some orange/lemon zest. All ingredients should be warm or room temp for the yeast to rise) and you'll have the best belgium waffles you ever tasted in this country!

Almost perfect, August 6, 2003
This review is from: VillaWare V2170 UNO 6 At-A-Time Waffler (Kitchen)
We have two smaller waffle makers which were OK but each browned the waffles unevenly and were two small. I spent more time waffling than eating. Essentially our family of four would eat in shifts as I prepared the next waffle. The sheer size and ability of this waffler to produce 6 waffles put a quick end to that. PROS: -Large size, 6 waffles at a time is great -Non-stick surface is truly nonstick -Heats and recovers quickly for fast waffling -Visually appealing -Floating upper plate ensure even browning of waffles -Browness control a plus -Deep pockets results in crispy waffles Cons: -Smaller than normal size waffles -No on/off switch which resulted in a small spark when I plugged it in the first time, none since -Still need to occasionaly check the progress of the waffles -Not so stable stored upright, better if laid flat given it's heft -Quiet beep when waffler is heated, does not beep when waffles are done as opposed to our other Villaware waffler

Simply Re-used Parts By VillaWare!!!!, September 30, 2004
This review is from: VillaWare V2170 UNO 6 At-A-Time Waffler (Kitchen)
The problem with this is that (as it appears to me) VillaWare has tried to cut corners by re-using all but the plates as it has on it's Panini Grill (which for the record is an excellent product - which I have given rave reviews). Check out the Panini Grill - unless you had these products in front of you & were able to open them up, you'd never be able to tell the difference between them. I would say, don't write off VillaWare products just because of one poor one, as I said I also own the Panini Grill & LOVE IT!!!!!!!! However, don't waste your money on this one - I hope VillaWare does right by their respected name & pulls this off the market completely.
One thing I will say, the "audible warning sound" that was mentioned in a previous review is actually a click - the same as the Panini Grill, but listen carefully or you'll miss it.
