5.0 out of 5 stars Works very nice
The works great! We have used it for a couple of weeks now and we haven't had any trouble. Our old one that was made by a different company wasn't very durable and was pain to deal with. However this is very easy to setup. Just plug it in and start mixing the batter. Then spoon about 1/2 to 3/4 a tablespoon onto the iron and lightly press down. After about 35-45 seconds,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good performance, but serious design flaws
This made in China small appliance was bought by my husband as a replacement for a ratty looking electric pizzelle maker that is almost as old as the hills. But as your grandmother used to say, pretty is as pretty does. The rating I gave for this--3 stars--is a compromise. For its performance when all goes well, I would give it 4 stars; for what I regard as its serious...

However this is very easy to setup. Just plug it in and start mixing the batter. Then spoon about 1/2 to 3/4 a tablespoon onto the iron and lightly press down. After about 35-45 seconds, lift the iron and pullout the pizzelles. It takes a little time to get good at it, but once you get good, they'll become your favorite snack! It comes with a recipe book too!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent addition to the kitchen, May 5, 2001

My wife and I bought this item over a year ago, and I have to say, it's done it's job really well.

Pizzelles were one thing my wife enjoyed from her childhood, as her mom made them, and when we got married, I hadn't really tried them. Her mother had some made on a visit, I loved them, so we had to get this maker.

It works great, doesn't have a lot of runoff (due to the shape of the baking area), and the shape / patterns on the iron make for some visually appealing pizzelles as well. A definite plus in the kitchen to have!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Italian, Trust me, it's a great pizzelle iron!, March 1, 2006

Okay, I grew up eating my families pizzelles, so I consider myself an expert on how they should look, feel and taste! We have a guarded secret recipe that is only passed down generation to generation. Everyone that has ever had my families pizzelles, has said that they have just tasted heaven!

Now, for this iron, I highly recommend it! It heats up so quick, has the indicator light and their not lying to you when they say 30 seconds for 2 pizzelles! And it does come with a recipe book, there's one in there that is very close to ours, it's by an italian lady, so I would follow her recipe. Use Anise oil in your batter!!!

1st thing, before you even plug it in, rub the iron down with vegetable or olive oil, trust me. For cleaning, it's so easy, just wipe it down with a paper towel. DO NOT PUT IN DISHWASHER, I don't care what the manual says!! You don't need to remove the grates, while it's cooling down and you've unplugged, simply wipe it down with a paper towel, that's it!! Folds great for storage on the counter or cupboard.

I have tried many irons, and this one is the best. After I bought it, my Mom and Mommom ordered the same. 3 generations can't be wrong!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy pizzelles just like my grandmother used to make!, July 3, 2003
This review is from: VillaWare V5000-NS Prima Pizzelle Baker Non-stick (Kitchen)
I recently got married, and my sisters purchased this for my shower. Our mother's family is Italian, and pizzelles were always a treat when we were growing up. As I got older, I made them myself using my mother's old iron, and as a bride, I wanted to have my own. This iron is very easy to use and makes perfect pizzelles. After the iron heats up (about 7-8 minutes), it makes two cookies in about 30 seconds. You may have to adjust the amount of batter used as well as the cooking time in order to get the perfect shape and doneness, but the results of this trial and error are well worth it. The pizzelles remove from the iron easily with a spatula; I experienced no sticking, and clean up was a breeze. Highly recommended!

I've had a pizzelle/waffle baker in the past. When it died - I bought the VillaWare V5000-NS Prima Pizzelle Baker Non-stick model to replace it and I LOVE IT!!! The pizzelle cookies are very thn and crisp (which my other baker never could achieve). Pizzelles baked in this model are just like the ones I remember growing up.

You will not be disappointed in this pizzelle baker - it is awesome and I know I'm glad I bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Easy, Super Quality, November 11, 2004
This review is from: VillaWare V5000-NS Prima Pizzelle Baker Non-stick (Kitchen)
Years ago, my college roommate's mother brought us pizelles one time and I fell in love. After searching the web, I found this Pizelle Maker to have the highest consumer rating. I was a little nervous to make my first batch of pizelles, but they turned out great! The Pizzelle Maker came with a few different types of Pizzelle recipes. The entire Pizzelle making process was a cinch and the iron cleaned up great. This is a nice product. I'm going to introduce my family to these Italian treats tonight. Maybe I will have to buy a couple more of these groovy Pizzelle makers for Christmas presents!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pizzelle maker!, September 22, 2004

After slaving over a manual pizzelle maker for years I decided to try this one. I couldn't be happier I did. This is a fantastic pizzelle maker! Heats up quickly and cooks evenly. Clean-up is a breeze; the non-stick surface really works. Also, the pizzelles are authentically thin, unlike some electric models which produce thick cookies. With the manual maker I had, it used to take 3 hours to make a batch of 80. Now it takes only 45 minutes to do the same. Only caveat: the instructions say use a heaping teaspoon of batter for each pizzelle..it's more like 2 teaspoons to get a full pizzelle form. Otherwise excellent model and well worth the price!

I love pizzelles, they kind of taste like Japanese senbei crackers. Bought this from Amazon about 3 months ago. This thing is great for the holidays. Also made a bunch of pizzelles for a charity fair. Can get boring if you just stand next to it waiting for the next batch so I just ploped it on a little table in front of the TV and dished out a batch of pizzlles every 45 secounds or so. I use those ice cream scoop type cookie dough scoops for extra ease. Takes about 30 minutes to an hour to finish all the dough from one recipe (about 50 cookies). Its awesome!
