5.0 out of 5 stars Does all 3 well
Despite the previous review I love this item. It makes crispy waffles with nice deep wells for syrup. It's pizzelle plate is perfect. In 100 seconds you can pop off a soft pizzelle, and either lay it on a rack to harden or drape over a custard cup for a shaped one. Recipe is tasty and easy to vary. 2.0 out of 5 stars There's got to be a better waffle iron out there
I liked the idea of having 3 machines in one. I never got a chance to try the pizzelle maker because it broke before I got around to it. The sandwich feature seemed to be the best part, but it was not deep enough for anything other than square, storebought squishy bread if you wanted to close it. I liked the idea of having 3 machines in one. I never got a chance to try the pizzelle maker because it broke before I got around to it. The sandwich feature seemed to be the best part, but it was not deep enough for anything other than square, storebought squishy bread if you wanted to close it. This is actually what led to its demise. They do warn you not to force it closed, but when you have an 11 yr old in the house sometimes warnings are not heeded when a grilled cheese sandwich is on the line. She pushed on it, the plastic housing broke setting the hinge off and exposing the wires. It is amazing though that this item is not as strong as a grilled cheese sandwich! The real disappointment though was that the waffles took forever to make and when they were done the bottoms were browner than the tops. It does not seem to be capable of making crisp waffles either. The advice that one wait for the steam to stop is useless as they are still not done. Also, there is no color setting, no beeper, and the cord storage is awkward.

5.0 out of 5 stars VillaWare 5230, marvelous!, January 3, 2003

After searching for a product to make pizelles, I purchased this one, as it could do three things and the price was great. It arrived promptly (even though I live in Hawaii, and ordered for Christmas, late). Its easy to use, way easy to clean. Makes delicious, fast waffles. Making a sandwhich was kind of messy, but it cleaned up by just rinsing! FAST/EASY/SIMPLE/GREAT QUALITY/NAME BRAND.
Amazon rocks!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not A Great Product, September 28, 2002

I have the Inter-Bake 3 for approximately one year. Because I live in an apartment I thought that this item would be perfect for me as space is limited and would serve as 3 appliances. I have used the pizzelle and waffle functions and have been less that pleased. Using the recipes included I found that baking took much longer than the recommended time to achive a nicely browned item. Also, the baked product was not light or crisp. The waffels were dense and the pizzelles were thick and had more of a cakelike bite rather than a thin, crisp cookie. The Inter-Baker was very easy to clean as stated in the instructions and if the the grids were coated with shorting as suggested nothing stuck to them. All in all not a great experience.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Concept - Very Poor Quality, January 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: VillaWare V5230 InterBake3 - 2 Square Multibaker (Kitchen)
I love the idea of a multitasking machine but the quality is just not there. I have returned two of these bakers because they were cracked on the inside accross the screw holes which caused the plates to fall out. The second one I purchased was not only cracked but the latch would not stay closed. I used the first one to make waffles and pizzelles. They baked very slowly, much slower than the recipes/directions indicated and only the bottom (which gets hotter than the top) would get crispy and brown. VillaWare has a long way to go to perfect this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, January 14, 2005

I love this product. It makes perfect waffles, soft like one child likes them and a few minutes later; crispy like the other child likes them. Pizzelles come out fantastic but you have to watch them closely because they brown quickly, as one other reviewer says, in about 100 seconds. I'll probably try the sandwich plates soon too. The recipes in the book are great. The unit is easy to clean, plates go into the dishwasher. Put a wet paper towel inside unit, close and unplug and anything you get on the outside comes off easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars what versatility!, January 23, 2005

I absolutely love this appliance. I have made pizzelles twice, waffles twice, and the filled sandwiches once in the four days since receiving this product. I originally bought it for the waffle iron-I wanted one that came apart for cleaning. The pizzelles are fantastic. My kids couldn't get enough! The Eurowaffles are awesome as well as the oatmeal ones. My only advice is to use little filling in the sandwiches and make sure you use the "wells" the plate provides-otherwise you will have cheese everywhere! I would buy a Villaware product again.

I would have given this 5 stars if it did a little better with waffles, they turn out lighter on the top side. It does a great job with pizzelles and toasted sandwiches. The removable plates are a huge asset it makes cleaning up so easy! All in all I am quite happy with the multibaker.

4.0 out of 5 stars almost great, September 16, 2006
This review is from: VillaWare V5230 InterBake3 - 2 Square Multibaker (Kitchen)
Easy to use, exchange plates, clean etc. The only problem I have had is the cooking because there is no light to help time when the food is cooked enough. Viilaware designed a great machine with one very big absence, the "done light". I tended to open machine before food is cooked enough so that the food came apart.
Waffles especially are a problem because the batter amount differs on each pouring. When I guess correctly and raise the handle, machine has done a great job with heat distribution.

I guessed correctly about 50% of the time. It took me twice as long to bake Italian waffle cookies due to this problem and I will have to buy different model similar to my old machine.
One other FYI is to use a little cooking spray between batters to prevent sticking.

The different plates are a little hard to change, but easy to clean and very nice to use. Makes wonderful pizzelles.
