Not quite up to it.,

While the VillaWare 5265-05 has an acceptable appearance and acceptable accessories, a serious deficiency is the plastic auger. Many competitive units have metal augers which are far more durable. After grinding partially frozen fish, shrimp, spinach and meat, the auger was seriously deformed and was unusable. This was after less than 2 hours use. I have tried to get replacement parts but the internet site seems to be hard to find. In the newer models, the plastic auger has been replaced with a metal auger. This is a MUST. I'm hoping that Villaware will replace the defective plastic auger as a warranty items since their replacement with a metal auger is an implicit acknowledgement that the original auger was not up to the job. With a metal auger, I would rate the unit 4-5 stars since other components are quite good. Chuck Jensen

You really need to read this prior to purchasing.,

You really need to read this if you are seriously interested in buying this meat grinder. This 320- watt Villa Ware meat grinder may give you problems if you pass through it a few pounds of cheaper cuts of beef that are long pieces that are almost the diameter of the filling tube. If the machine seems to be not grinding the meat fast, then stringy fibers probably have wrapped themselves around the blade. In order to resolve the problem you will need to turn off the unit, (unplug it for added safety) then remove the blade and shaft for cleaning. In order to avoid this potential problem, you need to cut the beef into about 1-inch chunks. It is definitely five stars for being able to ground several pounds of meat in a matter minutes using the medium (hole) size disk. The drawback is the added time it takes of cutting of the meat into chunks. Moreover, if you are only going to be using a pound or less of a cheaper cut of meat you will not have a problem, and can just put it right through the machine.

Works Like a Charm.....,

Was skeptical, but am 100% satisfied. Made 10 pounds of Sausages and 9 pounds of hamburgh and machine worked like a charm. Powerful, easy, solid, and fast. And, the price is way cheaper than elsewhere. It is fun too. I was fully prepare to try it and ship it back; but this is a keeper. (FYI made great sausages for about $1.50 per pound; pay $8 per pound in market). And, mine taste as good as the best!

Power Grinder passed the test,

I received the Power Grinder model 5265-05 last Christmas and I finally was able to test it this fall with 130 1bs of elk. I helped my buddy grind around 80 pounds of elk two weeks ago in one sitting and just completed another 50 pounds today with my wife's elk. The unit would shake just a little bit with the bigger chunks (sort of expected), but was able to grind them just fine. So far I am very happy with this unit and only time will tell how durable this unit is as well as how sharp the blade will stay. The way it performed using the medium cutting plate was exactly what I was hoping.

Just got this a week ago. Used it twice, today for 20 minutes straight. Ground up about 15-20 lbs of vension. Seems to work better with cubed meat but it takes 4-8 inch strips with little effort. Just try to get as much of the fat/grizzle off the meat as you can. Does a great job of grinding. and they back it with a 1 year warranty. Good product for the price, but with all items will have to wait and see. They are on the web (http://www.villaware.com/ 18901 Euclid Avenue No. 1

There is an item IDENTICAL to this one, but made by Oriental Company called TASIN. If you are expecting commercial quality, and the most powerful electric meat grinder, go with TASIN. It has 1200 WATT MOTOR POWER. It will grind just about everything from deer, elk, whole chicken with bones and nuts. TS-108 SUPER GRINDER is what you want. For some reason people put different lable on it, and advertise/sell wrongly. KEY is MOTOR POWER, not ELECTRIC USAGE. Why pay the same or more when you can get much more powerful, long lasting commercial quality meat grinder that can take a lot more "punishment"????

CUTTER BLADE PROBLEM,
By ROB VOVK (MINNEAPOLIS,MN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: VillaWare V5265-05 Power Meat Grinder (Kitchen)
ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO I PURCHASE THE VILLAWARE MEATGRINDER MODEL #5265-05 320 WATTS UNIT. MY WIFE AND I GROUND PORK AND MADE SAUASAGE WITH IT IN APRIL AND THINGS WENT REAL WELL, NO PROBLEMS AND EVERYTHING TURN OUT REAL WELL. IT STUFFED THE CASINGS VERY EASILY. LAST WEEK WE MADE ANOTHER BATCH AND THIS TIME JUST BEFORE FINISHING THE CUTTER BLADE CRACKED IN HALF. I'M NOT SURE WHY, I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE IT WAS ASSEMBLED PROPPERLY AND IT WAS SO I'M NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED. WHAT THE PROBLEM IS I CAN'T FIND A WAY TO REACH VILLAWARE TO SEE IF THIS IS COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY OR IF I JUST NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW CUTTER BLADE. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP IN THIS MATTER AS I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO FINISH MAKING THIS BATCH OF SAUSAGE. I CAN BE REACHED VIA MY E-MAIL ADDRESS. OTHER THAN THE BLADE CRACKING I THINK THE GRINDER IS A VERY GOOD UNIT.

Poor Quality Assurance. Very disappointed...,

I was looking for smth simple and reliable product, no sausages, not industrial usage, just to grind meat 2-3 pounds in a week. From the first sight the product looks serious - 320 watt, strong historical heritage, etc. Unfortunatelly, I do not know how this product works until now... I bought it twice... First time I brought it from Chef's and after I turned it on I recognized nothing worked. Returned back to store, talked to store's advisor and I was explained that this could happen with any sort of a product, and they've convinced me to take second one... That time I'd checked in the store that engine is working and brought it home again. However, after I've unpacked all the parts I saw that the mettalic surface inside the grinder was unfinished and rubbing my finger against the surface noticed small metallic scraps...I definetely do not wanna eat it... It's a really frustrating expirience with the product. In my shopping practice, I do not remember any other product with such low QA from the first step...

Easy to use and a great value. My wife and I ground 60 lbs of deer meat with no problem. We saved money grinding the meat ourselves. Highly recommended.
