This dandy waffler is a hoot and turns out four perfect waffles every time. The clever ready light signals when the waffler is ready for the batter and again when the waffle is cooked just right, so there's no guesswork. The waffler also comes with a terrific little booklet that gives clear directions and some tasty recipes to get you started. These waffles would be a perfect treat for a children's birthday party. It should only take you a waffle or two to get the hang of how much batter to pour into the grid and how to smooth it evenly over Mickey's face and ears. To lift out a perfect Mickey, be sure to loosen the ears first and work down the waffle from there. And always flip it over onto a plate: the bottom of the waffle is Mickey's best side. When your waffle feast is done, cleanup is a snap; the silicone nonstick surface really works. If a bit of batter does stick, just dab on some cooking oil and leave the waffler overnight. The next day it will wipe clean with a paper towel. For storage, just stand the waffler on its side and tuck it into a cupboard. Or display it on a shelf--we think it's too nifty to hide! --C. I bought this waffle iron on the strength of the other reviews, and it has been a disappointment. Here are the negatives not mentioned:

1. Price. For this price I would have expected more bells and whistles than Mickey's face.

2. No chime. I bought this in haste after looking at so many waffle irons I was cross-eyed and I didn't notice beforehand. Oops.

3. No adjustment for lighter or darker waffles. This coupled with no chime means I must babysit the waffle iron and not distract myself with household goings-on. Not an easy task with 5 children!

4. Metalic surface is HOT. Very beautiful to look at when cool, but dangerous in a house with children.

5. Waffle iron top-heavy when lid is up. Again, dangerous in a house with children.

6. Waffles are much smaller than they look in the picture. This may actually be a positive for some people with small children, but I thought I'd mention it as it was a negative in our large family.

7. Waffles can take up to 3 minutes to cook. Also a negative as I was looking for one of those cool 90-second wafflers.

These negatives wouldn't have been such a big deal if this waffle iron wasn't so darned expensive! I'd have been okay happy at a third of the price. But for this kind of money, the iron should predetermine my hankering for waffles and mix up the batter for me!

Makes perfect waffles and it's simple to use and clean. The only thing that would make it better would be for it to beep when they're ready rather than just turning a light off.

I got this from my mom and dad for Christmas! I was SO excited and couldn't wait to make my waffles. My 5 year old LOVES his Mickey waffles in the morning too! I make a huge batch on the weekends and then pop them in the freezer. During the week I throw them in the microwave and my son has his waffles everyday! No there isn't a chime with it, but I just prepare them and listen for the click that it makes when the light foes off. I LOVE IT!!!
