Excellent Value Toaster,
By Matt Klein (Gurley, AL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: VillaWare V5825 UNO S/S Classic 2-Slice Toaster (Kitchen)
Obviously designed in the image of England's Dualit brand of toasters, the Villaware Uno is a solid cost-conscious alternative. With the Dualit two-slice selling at over $300, the Uno is hard to beat. While the Uno lacks the overall solidness of the Dualit, it is still a well-built unit. Comforting to me is that the entire mechanism seems to be constructed of metal, save the actual ball-style handles. I have had Krups and other supposed "quality" toasters fail in short-order due to flimsy plastic parts. The Uno is a joy to look at and does a good job at toasting. The self-adjusting slots ensure even toasting and the on/off switch can be pressed at any time to cancel toasting. The toasting power of the unit is slightly low, but the uniformity of toasting more than offsets this. Overall, highly recommended.

Not as good as it looks,
By D. Pollock (Scottsdale, Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: VillaWare V5825 UNO S/S Classic 2-Slice Toaster (Kitchen)
Some months ago, I bought a VillaWare UNO5825 two-slice toaster for about $100 at The Great Indoors. Like a foolish lover, I chose it for it's looks, not its integrity or durability. It never really toasted well from the beginning, but I was willing to overlook these "minor faults" in favor of it's Euro-sleek styling and my original investment. Within a few months it was only toasting on one side. (I was even willing to explain this away by suspecting that one of my kids had stuck a knife into it and shorted out the space-age, electronic elements...right!) Anyway, I tried to find some place I could take it for repair. The store refused it, and Villaware had no repair provisions except the factory, at my expense and ASSUMING it wasn't damaged by the customer in some way. I then decided to look up Villaware's website and write a letter to customer service for assistance. This is when I discovered that the exact same toaster was selling on-line for 30 bucks! Upon further investigation, I now realize that this price slashing is due in part to the fact that they either didn't sell or the word was on the street that inside that pretty wrapping was a piece of junk. Bottom line: give me a Sunbeam Toastmaster anyday!

Villaware 5825 Uno Classic 2-slice Toaster,
By Joanne Evens (Granite Bay, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: VillaWare V5825 UNO S/S Classic 2-Slice Toaster (Kitchen)
I ordered this item, and loved it at first (for a couple of weeks) until it broke down, only one side of the toast got toasted. Something happened to the spacer/lifting mechanism and it pushed the slice of toast to one side instead of being in the center of the slot. It was a bit bulky in size on my kitchen cabinet. I wouldn't recommend anybody purchasing this toaster. I recently purchased a wonderful toaster from the Betty Crocker catalogue made in Canada, all stainless steel, absolutely beautiful, just the right size, and it performs three features more than the Villaware did. I thought the Villaware toaster was overpriced. Joanne Evens, Granite Bay, CA
