This review is from: Village Gossip (Turnham Malpas 07) (Paperback)
The village storekeeper and his wife, Jimbo and Harriet, have an old friend who comes to visit the village for some rest and relaxation. The catch - he's one of Britain's most famous actors. The peace and quiet of the village is shattered as jealously and scandal seem to follow Hugo wherever he goes. Soon Hugo agrees to direct and star in a play performed by the villagers, with the rector's wife, Caroline, in the lead female role. However, the more time the two spend together, the more Caroline's relationship with her husband is placed in jeopardy.Quote: "He's kind of all male and all man and yet child all at the same time. It makes him very irresistible." More craziness from Turham Malpas, the quiet little village where there is never a dull moment. Even the rector's marriage isn't perfect, and when Caroline starts to feel trapped and burdened by routine, she takes excitement wherever she can get it. Some of the minor villagers are also major players in this book, and it is nice to shine some light on those families that are usually secondary to the main plot. |
