A must have!
Even though the recording should have been titled Village Music of CROATIA (all but the last track are Croatian except Gaida Avasi which is Macedonian) this recording was one of the first quality field recordings of traditional Croatian Folk Music and is a must have for anyone who is interested in folklore and world music or good source music in general. This review is from: Village Music of Yugoslavia (Audio CD)

It is paired in my collection with Village Music of Bulgaria also collected by Mr. Koenig and Ethel Raim.

What I had hoped for was a broader selection of instrumental dance tunes, and I took a chance on the cd, uncertain of what I would get in that regard. All in all, though, it is an interesting recording. I just find a lot of the singing diminishes the songs for me, personally. I'll certainly hang on to the cd, though. (And yes, it is predominantly Croatian.)
