4.0 out of 5 stars Good read, July 2, 2008
For this installment in the Turham Malpas series, the biggest businessman in the village- relative newcomer Craddock Fitch, is determined to use his money to buy social standing and respect from the people. To this end, he finances a magnificent village show on his property. There are planned events, dancing, and competitions for flowers, fruit, cakes, etc. However, to get to this point the organizers must put aside their differences long enough to get the show off the ground, and that will be no easy task.

Quote: "The sooner she gets a job and moves away the better."

I liked this installment from Rebecca Shaw only slightly less than the first set. I got a little bogged down by the planning of the show, and it was not as full of dramatic happenings as the first three novels. However, it is still a nice sweet novelized look at village life.
