5.0 out of 5 stars this album makes me want to be a vampire!! it's awesome!!!, December 25, 2008
This review is from: Villainaire (Audio CD)
I just stumbled across this album whilst trying to find musical links to one of my favourite bands: Shudder to Think.

This album stopped me in my tracks.

Seeing no one has yet reviewed this i wanted to be the first (of what will surely be many) to give this a 5 star++ rating.

These guys are IN...CREDIBLE!!

If i had to describe the album i'd say it's:

Well ..erratic -rhythmically, melodically, and in terms of structure, arrangement and production (some incredible moments on here), awesomely theatrical, dark, really dark, brilliantly performed, and without doubt totally original.

I hate doing this -but for those of you on musical discovery missions who need points of reference- they have things in common with: The Mars Volta, Shudder to Think, Scott Walker, Talk Talk (last 2 albums) these are just ones that come to mind, i'm sure you could think of better ones when you hear it. Anyway.

In discussions with people I've shown this to so far everyone has had a "holy #$%!" reaction to it.

And as a side note, to me it sounds like, ok bare with me.....

If someone were to make an intense dark musical/opera of the movie: Interview with a Vampire, this music would fit it perfectly.

I can imagine Lestat delivering these vocals.

It sounds like the music to a Jazz/Metal/Experimental modern Transylvanian Opera.

That might be just me though.
