This review is from: Villancicos y Cantadas: Sacred Songs and Dances From Latin America and Spain (Audio CD)
Well, it goes to show you that my view of Latin America was a bit skewed. All I used to think of was jungles, the Andes, Brazil and its beaches, and gauchos in Argentina. I never even thought about sacred music, let alone in the 18th century and prior. It's beautiful and unusual. We don't hear much of this sort of music on the radio, so I find this album particularly refreshing and delightful. Do listen to it.
