Missing Part from VillaWare 200 bought from Amazon,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: VillaWare V200 Food Strainer (Kitchen)
This item arrived from Amazon without the critical gasket needed to help prevent leaks. Something that I did not realize when I purchased it on 7-22-04. No opportunity to use it last year as all my tomatoes were too juicy to make sauce. It took some doing, but I have finally ran down the company who is now supplying these gaskets and other replacement parts for the Villaware Strainer. http://www.kasbahouse.com/ Suggest caution in ordering additional screens to make positive the screens are made for this particular strainer and not for the VillaWare Victorio. Not certain but there may well be intentional obfuscation from sellers of the screens.

Borrowed from a friend,

In the summer, during strawberry season, I had borrowed one of these terrific machines from a friend at work. He had all of the attachments, so I was able to use the berry screen. I washed the berries, but left the hulls on to see what it would do. Well, I got perfect results when it hulled and de-seeded 9 quarts of strawberries in less than 1/2 hour. The cleanup wasn't much of a challenge when weighed against the amount of work and mess I would have made without it. I made wonderful strawberry jelly with the juice and pulp, that I still get mention of when I see the people I gave some to. I had to get this machine so I can repeat last year's success without having to borrow my friend's machine again.

What a lifesaver if you're canning!,

This is my first year canning, and because I'm a bit lazy I didn't want to have to peel anything, let alone strain it by hand to get all the seeds out. I ordered this Villaware fruit and vegetable strainer to give me a hand with peaches and tomatoes. The instruction booklet helped me put all the pieces together, although the clear plastic funnel that shoots the seeds and skins out after the juice and pulp are extracted and pushed through the strainer is hard to attach, and I'm afraid it's going to crack each time I put the machine together. Cleaning the parts was not half as bad as I expected. After all is said and done - this is definitely the way to go!! This strainer gets the job done with minimal effort and is a real timesaver!! I'd recommend it to anyone who's going to be canning lots of tomatoes or, if you're into the "natural" stuff, making your own baby food.

Great for canning but lots of parts to clean,

I have an earlier version of this strainer and it can really process a lot of food quickly. It works by turning the food through a plastic spiral inside the cone-shaped strainer. The spiral gets progressively smaller and squeezes the food through the strainer. The peels and seeds come out separately at the small end with almost no waste, if the food is soft enough to mash. The only problem is that cleanup is a pain due to all the oddly-shaped parts. So it's well suited to processing a big batch of something, like when canning or freezing applesauce or tomato sauce.

Old Victorio Veg Strainer,

I also have the old original version of this gadget. It would do 8 bushels of tomatoes for me every summer. Cleaning the strainer was the hardest part but weighed against the dollar savings,it was well worth it.My hubby melted my spindle years ago and I've been unable to replace it. Its a great machine. I used to set it up on picnic table outside and the kids in the neighbourhood would love to help me. In one 16 hr day I could master 2 bushels with their help. Its nice to see a newer version on the market

Holy Cow! There aren't many real time savers anymore,

But this is the real deal. I borrowed one from my brother to make homemade applesauce this afternoon. We started at 2:00 with a large laundry basket filled with apples and by 4:30 we had produced 28-16 ounce containers, cleaned up the mess, and bought a strainer for ourselves on Amazon.com.
Our kids love the homemade stuff, but prior to using the Villaware strainer my wife had spent 6 hours one afternoon peeling, quartering, de-coring, cooking and filling eight applesauce containers. Now with three little kids at home, we will be able to do four times as much--and be done before they wake up from their afternoon naps! It assembles and cleans up easy, although the red plastic push rod may not hold up over time. It cranks easily enough if the apples are parboiled, but my arm was getting pretty tired after doing it for an hour and a half. Sure it's work, but it isn't a waste of time--and time is what I seem to need the most! My brother shopped for a good strainer a long time before settling on this one. He runs EVERYTHING through it, and wanted to be sure it was well built and would hold up. He also has additional screens that I do not believe will be coming with the model above and are currently out of stock. For $40, it pays for itself the very first time you use it.

I lost a vital part to a similar food strainer and was unable to replace it. It was really old and the company no longer exists. Making applesauce was a chore and not fun any more without the big strainer. SO! I went to the trusty search engine and found this one and bought it at once! For anyone who likes to work up a huge amount of applesauce in a short time, I recommend it highly! No peeling is needed- - just wash ,halve the fruit and steam it. Plop the cooked apples (or anything else) into the hopper and crank slowly and out of the chute comes the pulpy sauce ready to can or freeze for another day. I send the peeling "mess" through the hopper a second time to get as much pulp as possible. This is one of my favorite kitchen tools!

Fantastic - Juicing made simple,

This juicer is fantastic. I am seriously considering buying another so I will never be without one. The construction and fit of the componants are excellant with what seems to be the right combination of plastic and stainless steel. Operation is a breeze. I ran enough tomatoes for 9 quarts in less than 15 minutes - unreal not a single seed or peel. I can not express how happy I am with this unit. RPF - Tennessee

I am most pleased with my purchase of the VillaWare V200 food strainer. It performed just as it was described. I especially liked the ease of cleanup. Expect some splatters as the food is processed.
