My grandmothers had good meat grinders. I thought this would be comparable. What a mistake!! It's a piece of junk. The workmanship on the product is extremely poor! There are burrs on the metal that cut into the surface you mount the grinder to. The handle and the blades do not fit securely because the alignment is off. It's impossible to turn the handle (even when attempting to grind potatoes and onions). Not one piece of beef went through the grinder without plugging. And, any "juice" generated when attempting to grind, leaks out the back (again because of poor alignment and fit of the grinder components). It's true...they don't make things like the used to. Perhaps I can use this as a boat anchor. I'd look at garage or estate sales if you want an old fashioned heavy duty meat grinder!

The grinder is very solid and seemed to be of decent quality. The cutting disks were poorly machined and holes were full of metal shavings. After several attempts at cleaning the holes, we still cannot use the smaller disk without fear of having metal splinters in our meat. It is effectively useless to us unless we opt to purchase new disks. Definitely not worth the money if this is the quality you'll receive.

I was really alarmed by the negative reviews for this product, but trusting Amazon I thought to give it a try. I bought the grinder for my Mom who is a great cook. Once she got the item, she made a sausage which was a big success with the whole family. She was so happy with the grinder's performance!!! Mom enjoyed the whole process because it was so easy with this excellent grinder.
I do not understand where all the negative reviews come from, but our item was truly great!

used it to grind dried/preserved fruits for my Grandmother's mincemeat recipe. This was after wrecking an electric grinder attachment for my very expensive mixer and an expensive food processor to boot. Worked like a champ, no bells and whistles, just a good solid product that should last for generations.

I was looking for a meat grinder like I remember my mother using 40 years ago. I was so pleased; this was just like it. Solid cast iron so it will last forever and it works great. A very good value.

I had looked everywhere for a meat grinder that was metal. I purchased this grinder and love it. It has two blades - one for fine grinding and a coarse blade. I will be buying my own meat and grinding it myself.

This is a wonderful product and because of the way it's made, you will have it forever.

The grinding rings had pieces of metal left after being drilled, and no matter how hard I tried to get rid of them - they were there. Of course I didn't use it to prepare food since all the metal remains would have ended in my meat. Very disappointing.

I bought this product for my wife after the much more expensive electric grinder did not work. It works fine, but gets clogged from time to time. She uses it for grinding chicken. The clogging may be due to the fact that chicken is a softer meat compared to beef. With beef, it might work better. We haven't tried sausage stuffing either. Remember to keep the parts rubbed in old after using to prevent rusting. If it was made out of stainless steel, it would have been better.

I sincerely regret purchasing this grinder. Very poor craftsmanship - screws do not fit securely, and the handle broke apart after 5 minutes of use on soft chickpeas! We didn't even get a chance to use this on meat! If zero stars were an option, that's the rating I would have chosen.

I bought this grinder to grind meat for my dogs and cats, and it does a great job of it. The only problem I've had is that the little disk that tightens under the counter top has fallen off twice. My husband used a punch to put it back on. So far, so good. I would suggest to anyone buying this that they clean it up immediately after use, dry the cutting disks and blade immediately, and keep them oiled and wrapped while in storage. It's a good product at a great price!
