This is so much easier to use than my old flat, sliding spaetzle maker! Unlike the sliding type, this rotary version has no loose parts to slide off into the water at inopportune times, and it balances easily on top of the cooking pot. It makes slightly larger dumplings than my sliding-style spaetzle maker. When I'm through cooking, the whole tool comes apart easily for cleaning. We'll be making spaetzle much more often now that I have this wonderful item. (Hint: for easier cleaning, spray a little nonstick cooking spray into the spaetzle maker before adding batter.)
