5.0 out of 5 stars It's LOVE at first try!!!
Words cannot say how much I love this machine. Using my bestemor's (grandma for you non-norwegian speakers) heavy-duty cast iron krumkake iron, the process of making of krumkaker would require an entire afternoon and burnt fingertips. Well, no longer. I made an entire recipe in about an hour and without any help. This is an excellent product and I recommend it highly...

2.0 out of 5 stars VillaWare V3900 Krumkake Baker
I am disappointed with this baker. The batter did not stay in the circles, but ran together in the middle. Also the cookies were not round as they are supposed to be, but oval. I have an older Vitantonio baker that works much better.

This is an excellent product and I recommend it highly. Also is included is a recipe for Krumkake and a wooden roller. For those of you who are not familiar with this Norwegian treat, one really delicious way to eat it is to fill it with a mixture of sweetened whipped cream and cloudberries (or lingonberries) It is a real treat.

My only complaint is that the design is not as pretty as the one on my bestemors krumkake iron. But that is a minor detail.

Vær så god!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Quality Unit, September 6, 2005
This review is from: VillaWare V3900 Krumkake Baker (Kitchen)
One of the things that is nice about the VillaWare Krumkake Baker is that you can cook so many krumkake quickly by cooking two at a time. The design on the iron makes very pretty krumkake. While we have our own krumkake receipe from Norway, the one included with the cooker is excellent. Note, in order to make the krumkake authentically thin, you need to make sure your batter isn't too thick. Totally non stick, it is very easy to clean.

This was so much fun to make small cones for ice cream and so beautifully decorated that everything came out perfect. I made all kinds of fillings from creams to puddings and filled them up. They are beautiful and very nordic in design. You can even just make cookies and also very pretty, easy to use, nothing to clean, and impressive to show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Traditions made easy, December 15, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: VillaWare V3900 Krumkake Baker (Kitchen)
My Great-grandmother was Norwegian and made cookies and Krumkake when I was a little girl. We enjoyed these treats every time we visited her. She must have labored long and hard back then to prepare these treats. I have missed them since she passed. However, with this press and her recipe handed down I can make the Krumkake in little time and little clean up and continue with a wonderful family tradition. The press is terrific. I only wish they had one like it twenty years ago for my grandmother. I will pass the press down (with the recipe) to my children. Villaware has made an incredible product.
Signed a happy baker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect KrumKate, January 27, 2006
This review is from: VillaWare V3900 Krumkake Baker (Kitchen)
I love it so much! It is so easy to use and the Krumkate came out very thin. However the product is "made in China" not "made in USA" as indicated under its description. I experienced that the cookies came out rather dark, so I used a timer instead of waiting for the light. It will take approximately one minute and 45 seconds for each cookie. I set mine as one minute and 25 seconds. If you want a thin krumkate, your batter should be thin. The thinner, the faster it will take, so adjust your timer accordingly. It is easy to clean with a dam towel or paper towel

5.0 out of 5 stars Krumkake, September 13, 2005
This review is from: VillaWare V3900 Krumkake Baker (Kitchen)
My purchase consisted of two Krumkake bakers; one for a shower gift for my daughter and one to replace my two old stovetop krumkake irons. The electric is far superior to the stovetop irons because it is so easy to use and it does not generate the amount of heat that the elements on the stove top do. I am very pleased with my baker and my daughter loves hers as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Electric Memories, August 28, 2000

I am thrilled to find an electric version of the krumkake iron. Our family grew up with Mom making krumkake each Christmas, and it surely was a labor of love on her part! In fact, there have been years lately where she has not made them because they are just too time consuming.

I am looking forward to trying this electric iron because it bakes both sides of the cookie at the same time and two cookies at a time. Mathematically speaking, that's four times faster than Mom!

I just know she'll want to borrow it this year, but that's fine with me, because chances are I'll get a box of cookies out of the deal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Krumkake baker ever!!, January 7, 2006
This review is from: VillaWare V3900 Krumkake Baker (Kitchen)
After spending many years using a manual cast-iron stove-top Krumkake baker, shoulder arthritis made it impossible. I actually dreaded the season and the Krumkake I always made to give as gifts. With my new electric Krumkake baker, I just made a batch in only 1 hour (usually took 3 hours on the stove), no burned fingers and no shoulder arthitic problem! And my very first krumkake turned out perfectly (it usually took me about 5 to "get it right" with my stove-top system). Thanks for a terrific product and recipe. I'll use it all year (not only at Christmastime)!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, wonderful cookies, October 31, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: VillaWare V3900 Krumkake Baker (Kitchen)
My mother used to have similar one so long ago. I decided to buy this one because it has the same style. Great cookies, easy to use and clean.
The recipies could be a little more accurate but ...I can experiment on my own.
Being able to make two cookies at a time is a wondeful feature - my kids always eat one cookie after each cycle and we keep the other for the guests. Thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't tell Gramma!, December 28, 2003

Top quality, and it turns out consistent, beautifully made krumkakke (spelling of "krumkak(k)e depends on what part of Scandinavia your family hails from) very quickly. Over the years, as each of my kids left the nest, the irons went with them. We've tried and used several models. The trouble with most stove top units are their stability on the burner surface, and it is more art than science. This unit makes it possible for even a beginner to put out something Grandma would have served to her guests, with pride!
