Book Description

August 1, 2001
In a drama spanning ten years, in a time and space distant from our own, The Villikon Chronicles is a story based on the award-winning motion picture screenplay of a soldier banished to a gothic prison world. Captain Kort Villikon leads a crusade for escape, in an adventure that results in sorrow, betrayal, villainous encounters, freedom, and spiritual closure to the man he thought he was. Amicable and loathsome characters personify the intricacies of military valor, ancient prophecies, forbidden love, political strife, criminal punishment, and unimaginable consequence. This is the inaugural first chapter in a fantastic three-part series which will offer intriguing plots, a twisted conclusion, moments of gothic and vampirical eroticism, metaphorical relationships to biblical creed, and will ultimately make a definitive statement about our own moral convictions. Science Fiction will never be the same. The Villikon Chronicles saga has been adapted artistically, and storyboarded by ROY YOUNG. His work can be visited in the popular SPAWN comic book series. The artwork in this 72-page Graphic Novel defies traditional imagery and exquisitely captures the haunting experience of this fantasy tale.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I anticipated every page. A gifted storyteller developed their world before putting characters in it and it shows!" -- Reader Testimonial, 2001

"My complaint is I WANTED MORE! Someone needs to turn this into a television mini-series!" -- Reader Testimonial, 2001

"Not since Escape from Alcatraz have I been so entertained. It's sexy, suspenseful, and original to the very end" -- Reader Testimonial, 2001

About the Author

Bryan Kinnaird started as a staff writer in the late 80's, writing for morning radio. He later wrote marketing scripts for sales companies before professionally writing and producing corporate training programs for his own video production company.

In 1997, Bryan began writing motion picture screenplays and created the concept that would become the basis for "The Villikon Chronicles", a futuristic story told from a soldier's point of view that imaginatively portrays the trials and tribulations of mankind. This intriguing tale, set against the backdrop of a militarized universe plagued with maniacal villains, vampirical creatures, religious fanaticism, and moral hypocrisy, has received numerous accolades, and appeals to several genres. It is a modernized myth with unique story beats, plot twists, symbols, and themes that transcend cultural and national boundaries.

In November 1999, Bryan Kinnaird joined artist Roy Young to form Young-Kinnaird Productions. Roy Young originally collaborated with Bryan Kinnaird on the documentary film, Behind the Scenes of Destructive Metal and Comic Book Mayhem. The film delved into the underground influence of metal music on new age comic books.

Bryan Kinnaird's work has attracted serious consideration by acquisitionists and film studios alike. Respectively, "The Villikon Chronicles" has been revered as an intelligent tale, worthy of master storytellers H.G. Wells, Ray Bradbury, Frank Herbert, and cinematic genius George Lucas.

Literary agent, Mr. George Kaplan of the Cano Agency represents Bryan's material.

5.0 out of 5 stars VILLIKON makes the Ten Commandments look like a child's read, July 9, 2004
This review is from: The Villikon Chronicles: Ascension of the Expatriates - Part I (Paperback)
So what exactly is The Villikon Chronicles, you might ask? It's the story of Captain Kort Villikon, a respected soldier and military commander who is framed for the horrendous crime of genocide. His punishment is to be banished to the prison world of Itasca. A world swarming with warmongering clans, pirates, and a vampirical race known as the Porphyrian Hive. Through it all, Villikon learns how to survive in this hostile world and seek a way to escape it so that he may extract vengeance upon those who framed him.

That description barely touches the surface of this story. Even though the first storyline is over, the chronicles have only begun. In the days to come, The Villikon Chronicles II: Rites of Abolition will be coming out, along with The Crucible of Mystere. In addition, Bryan J. Kinnaird is still working at turning Villikon into a movie or TV series. This is the sort of tale that makes the Ten Commandments look like a child's read.
