5.0 out of 5 stars The things of life!, September 5, 2008
Without any doubt we are dealing with the masterpiece of Claude Sautet. The friendship is the fit vehicle to express the peaks and lows, gathering the existential living based on disappointments, love affairs, unfinished projects and a promissory career for a boxing prospect.

This is a deep and moving film, zealously scripted, overwhelmingly acted and better directed. But Michael Piccoli (a constant choice of Sautet who always represented the figure of the antihero per excellence) in the most demanding role was specially dazzling; on one hand we have the breakthrough of his actual existence as respectable medic respect the questioning young leader in his student years and the particularly tragic destiny of his crumbling marriage.

A master film under any angle.

The problem is that this excellent movie is only in French! Can anyone consider adding english language before retailing it?

If you're a fan of Yves Montand & Michel Piccoli (as I am), you'll be happy you got this movie. A bitter-sweet story of middle-aged pals who all have disappointments/troubles but manage to hang together inspite of the life changes that threaten to pull them apart.
