5.0 out of 5 stars The search is over! (A comparison review)
After digging through many reviews and trying many products (a very disheartening project) I have found a great lip stain! I knew it was possible, that a product could truly stain the lip and last a long time. I used Revlon's Just Bitten (Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain and Balm, Passion 0.14 Ounces) with the lip balm on one end first and it definitely stained and stuck...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very dark
Functionally, this gel stain works well. It is more watery than I had expected, but is pretty easy to use. However, the color is much darker than what is shown in the picture. I have a medium complection and this color looked like a purple bruise on my cheeks. Not flattering.

This review is from: Vincent Longo Vincent Longo Lip & Cheek Gel Stain - Neo Aura, .25 oz (Misc.)
After digging through many reviews and trying many products (a very disheartening project) I have found a great lip stain! I knew it was possible, that a product could truly stain the lip and last a long time. I used Revlon's Just Bitten (Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain and Balm, Passion 0.14 Ounces) with the lip balm on one end first and it definitely stained and stuck... but the drying was ridiculous, leading to my skin to just peel off (very unattractive). In the effort to keep my lips hydrated I must've clogged the pen because they only worked a few times and then I could hardly get anything out of them! Big bummer! So I vowed not to try any others that were in the pen format, even though the application was so precise and convenient.

I ordered Garden Botanica's lip/cheek stain (Garden Botanika Lip & Cheek Stain, Cherry, 0.09-Ounce Boxes) and liked it as a moisturizing lip balm, but the stay power isn't quite what I wanted. I did like it as cheek stain, though, and as something to put over other lip stains that dried out my lips too much.

I also tried Benetint (Benefit Cosmetics Benetint) in a department store, but the price tag was too large for something so subtle that only comes in one color! It did last awhile, it seems, but it was so subtle it's hard to tell... still I'd say the second best I tried.

Also sampled the tarte giant lip stain crayons (tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Stain, joy 1 ea) in Sephora, and while they moisturized and felt great, I didn't buy one because the stain felt like it would slip right off.

I ordered the Nars lip gloss style one (Moon Fleet / Indian Red Lip Gloss - Lip Stain Gloss), also a highly rated stain, but found it to be nothing more than a really pretty gloss. It didn't stick to my lips at all. I'd kiss my fiance and he'd turn red, even if I tried to dab off extra. So back to Sephora went that one. Great gloss, but not stain at all.

So I broke down, shelled out the cash and got a few shades of Vincent Longo Lip/Cheek Stain. I was hesitant to because all the websites I comparison shopped at represented the colors very differently. Amazon doesn't do a great job of representing the colors either, and two of the colors I tried they don't even sell here. But of the colors I tried, the best representation of the true color is the one from Vincent Longo's website, so I'd recommend looking there to see what color you want. I got Liquid Kiss, a pinkish red, My Sunshine, a bright red with a slight hint of orange and Neo Aura which looked brown when I put some on my wrist but on my lips is sort of a subtle red-brown.

They feel great on, the watery application allows you to dab on a little at a time. The colors are somewhat difficult to put on extremely lightly so if you want something really subtle Benetint might be better. I'm sure some of the other colors are subtler, though, I just prefer redder shades. There is also a slight taste/smell of vanilla, which I find very pleasant. There is a slight drying, but as another reviewer said, nothing like the other brands. Really, I'm not sure if it dries or if it just doesn't moisturize like other glosses/balms. A little clear gloss over it does the trick for me and I have really dry lips this time of year.

If you have given up on trying to find a good lip stain, don't! Try this one! It really is fabulous and although it is a little more expensive, it looks like it'll last awhile because the formula is very thin and a little goes a long way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Lip Stain EVER!, December 30, 2009

I, like some of the other women, have tried many lip stains - semi-permanent lipsticks. This gel stain by V. Longo is by far the best I have ever tried!!! It doesn't bleed / feather. It does dry your lips out just a bit but NOTHING like the other brands. Once you put lip gloss over the lip stain, the dryness is instantly cured. LUV IT - thank you all for your postings - which is the reason I tried yet one more lip stain in hope of finding the "one".....and, I DID! The search is over *-* Cupid's Bow is a great light color - you can layer it to get a richer color if desired. It is a natural looking stain with a hint of pink and maybe a spec of peach....

This is, by far, the prettiest, most luscious lip stain I've tried. I don't care for any texture such as in lipsticks or glosses, just beautiful color and Vincent Longo delivers. I intend to get all the colors. They are the most long-lasting and have a subtle flavor. Excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, January 15, 2007

This stuff is great! The color is perfect, and a little goes a long way. The trick is to get good at applying it, since it is a stain and it dries quickly. The tube lasts a really long time, and the stain lasts on your lips for about an hour or so. When used lightly, it looks very natural. Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this lip stain!, December 29, 2010

I've been using this lip stain for 5 years now and there's nothing like it. You can make it light or dark depending on how many times you apply it on your lips at one time. It is not glossy or waxy like lipstick or lip gloss. That's actually what I like about it and it stays on for a long time because of it. I do put burt's bees on after the stain dries for some moisture for my lips. One tube lasts me about 6 months of daily use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Longo Lip Stain - Awesome, November 17, 2008

I LOVE this product! The color goes on, stays on and looks more natural than lipstick. I've tried other brands and this one is the best. The applicator allows you to get your lips on straight (ha-ha). I've tried ones with a roll on applicator and they don't work well. This little tube really lasts and last too. It's worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best stain I've ever used., December 9, 2007
After trying almost every lipstain available, this is, hands down, the best. The applicator and formula are perfect! That being said, I can't see a significant difference in the 3 colors I've purchased. The shades are only very slightly different. Luckily, I love them all, so this doesn't end up being problematic. It's such a great product, therefore I'm considering trying other Vincent Longo products. I received a sample of his concealer from Sephora and it's very impressive, too. The line is very expensive, though, so that's something to consider as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Neo Aura, May 20, 2011

This review is from: Vincent Longo Vincent Longo Lip & Cheek Gel Stain - Neo Aura, .25 oz (Misc.)
This gel stain is a bit watery and you have to becareful when applying it because you can get patches where it builds up in its watery form and looks splotchy. That said if you apply it correctly and let it dry a little bit in between applications it looks pretty good. It is darker as one other reviewer said than expected, I was hoping the Neo Aura would be a darker bricky red but it ended up being a more brown red, which still looked good but wasn't what I expected. It seemed to last longer than a lot of other stains I have used and it didn't dry out my lips overly. But make sure you exfoliate your lips before you apply it otherwise it will be noticeable and will build up in the places where you have dead skin. I would purchase the product again but would like to see a wider array of color choices and will most likely continue to search for a perfect lip stain because of the lack of color selection with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best lip stain ever...and I have tried many, November 24, 2010
I have used many lip stains, from more inexpensive drug store brands to high end lip stains. NO lip stains actually works like this. I apply Longo's Baby Boo lips stain in the morning and my lips maintain the color the entire day. I literally do not have to reapply. You can lighten the color by applying it w your finger or make it more intense by applying it from the applicator. When i want a natural pop of color I use Baby Boo alone with some chapstick (after it fully dries) or I can jazz it up with lip liner and lip stick over it. Does not dry out the lips. It is my main makeup staple. I would be devastated if they discontinued it!
