Melodic touching, probably one of his best songs.

This song is beautiful, sad, and very deep.

I love this song; it paints a picture with words & music of a tormented artist who only wants to be loved & appreciated. It's something we can all identify with. VanGough painted wonderful pictures in his time, but died feeling unappreciated & unloved. I can identify with that; many artists suffered rejection in their time, only to be celebrated after they were gone. I would hope this music would inspire listeners to check out a few of Vincent's paintings. "The Starry Night" is perhaps his most famous.

Best known for his "American Pie" single, Don McLean has lovingly crafted this ballad, which pays homage to one of the greatest artists of his time (and my personal favorite), Van Gogh, of course. It always brings a tear to my eye, as I have read quite a lot about Vincent's troubled life. I bought this for my son to listen to after he learned a little about Van Gogh through a "Dr. Who" episode (new series). Couldn't get it out of my head for days after!

One of his best! Sad it's rarely heard anymore. Sadder still so many people I know didn't even realize the song was about the amazing painter Vincent Van Gogh.

I always loved this song, and recently downloaded it for my niece (10-11 y.o.) because they were studying Van Gough and some of his art. She liked (and understood) the song, because of her school work.

Love this classic song. I can just see Vincent Van Gogh painting that beautiful scene. Paint your pallet blue and grey...
