5.0 out of 5 stars Find Out Why You Often Hear "I Do Not Understand You"
Are you impulsive, like new situations, change things just to see what happens, give 100% on a project then need to crash and do nothing, bored with routine? Do you feel out of place and are always trying to fit in? Do you have difficulty finishing the projects you have started? Are you sure there is something more to life but you are not sure what? If this describes you...

3.0 out of 5 stars Da Vinci Method
I stayed in my jammies for a day and a half and read the book cover to cover. I learned a lot about myself and how I tick. However, Loporto's process to access the unconscious me is a bit too "Jedi Knight.... Luke! Feel the force", for me to take that portion of his process seriously. Now, don't take me wrong! I benefited from the book. However, I question his process...

5.0 out of 5 stars Find Out Why You Often Hear "I Do Not Understand You", December 13, 2005
This review is from: The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire (Paperback)
If this describes you then read this book.

Garrett Loporto's wonderful book describes what he calls the Davinci type personality. According to Garrett most successful entrepreneurs, inventors, rock stars are Davinci types who harness the power of their personalities.

If you are wondering why you have not yet made your millions this book is a good place to start looking for the answer.

Being a Davinci type can have its downside. Because of your Davinci personality your behaviour probably meant you did not fit in easily when you were young and adults shamed you until you learnt to suppress your natural instincts. If I had $5 for every time my father said "I do not understand you" I would have been independently wealthy before I finished school.

Loporto points out that suppressing your instincts can lead to:

- Procrastination
- Distractibility
- Irritability
- Addiction
- Listlessness & Depression
- Feeling like a Fraud
- Fear of Success

If any of this resonates with you then read this book. I have just started to read it for the second time and I feel sure I will read it a few more times after that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, January 9, 2006
This review is from: The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I have a husband and 5 year old son that are both DaVincis. I couldn't stop laughing at how well the author knew them both. DaVincis, according to the author are:

- High Energy
- Impulsive
- Highly Creative
- Distractible
- Sensation Seeking
- Adventurous Risk takers
- Mavericks

This book is full of practical and useful tools for helping both father and son achieve their full potential and live happy, fulfilling lives. I didn't realize the angst and frustration that abiding by the rules and the status quo of society could cause people with DaVinci type personalities. I knew my husband was a rebel, but I thought it was immaturity. I didn't realize this is part of his gift!

I learned that DaVincis who are able to express themselves freely can become amazingly successful. I always knew my husband could be brilliant, but I never understood his unusual ways until I read this book.

This book is very healing. It is full of processes that "neurotic" DaVincis can use to heal their wounds from growing up in an industrialized society intolerant of their creative temperament. Apparently our school systems can do a lot of damage to young DaVincis and The DaVinci Method helps adult DaVincis heal those wounds that often lead to frustration, addiction and self-sabotage. My husband is benefiting already.

Meanwhile, The DaVinci Method is also helping me help my son avoid these negative "shaming" experiences as he grows up. Now I have the tools to help him respect and love his unique gift - the same tools that the mothers of Thomas Edison and Richard Branson apparently used to raise their own amazingly successful DaVinci kids.

If you fit the profile of a DaVinci definitely read this book, it seems like a real life-changer. And if you love a DaVinci, like I do, read this book so you can finally understand them.

Five stars all the way. I only wish this book had came out years ago.

3.0 out of 5 stars Da Vinci Method, January 7, 2006

I stayed in my jammies for a day and a half and read the book cover to cover. I learned a lot about myself and how I tick. However, Loporto's process to access the unconscious me is a bit too "Jedi Knight.... Luke! Feel the force", for me to take that portion of his process seriously. Now, don't take me wrong! I benefited from the book. However, I question his process that is supposed to access the unconscious portion of our mind.(powers) But I am an Alpha-Type, a staunch realist, so that is what I do. Do not let this stop you from reading his book. It is an excellent read and it has helped me greatly to see that I am O.K. and will do very well without being put on drugs!
I'm now excited about my future instead of fearing it! And, I'm 51 years old!

Addenda:
I was a bit harsh on the author. After seeking to understand the process more closely, I have to say that the process really may have a great impact on not only adults but even more important the youths in our society that are being robbed of their lives by being put on drugs for their ADD & ADDHD.
If a more spiritual, mystical (Jedi Night, "the force") is in order then so be it. Anything... Anything at all to help these youths that are gifted yet are being condemned to a drug altered life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Advice for Entrepreneurs, January 10, 2006
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire (Paperback)
I've been a successful entrepreneur for 30 years. What I like about the DaVinci Method is that it teaches you how to tap in to your instincts and enthusiasm and helps you build your own inner sense of knowing what the best move is. What great entrepreneurs do is invent new & better ways of doing things. They don't just follow rules, a lot of times they have to transcend the rules. The DaVinci Method helps you reawaken that natural gift of knowing how to break the old rules and invent new ways of succeeding.

This book also helps you find the track to keep your enthusiasm alive. You're not going to get to your goal if you're driven solely by mental ambition; you need that enthusiasm that comes from the heart to sustain you through thick and thin. The DaVinci Method will show you how.

Most other entrepreneur and business books give you lists of action steps or formulas to blindly follow, but what they don't do is show you how to build in your own inner sense of knowing, in any given moment, what the best move is. If you can feel your enthusiasm you know you are lined up to hit that ball out of the park.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on ADD/HD yet!, May 18, 2006

This review is from: The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire (Paperback)
The DaVinci will find this book a mirror of his/her being. Loporto has nailed and reaffirmed my own life experience. I have just read the book and haven't had time to determine how much difference it will make in my life, but I find I already have a different attitude toward myself and my purpose in life.

A very important aspect of The DaVinci Method is that it will be helpful to those who have a relationship with a DaVinci. I doubt that anyone who is not a DaVinci can grasp the totality of what they read here, but it should go a long way toward helping them to understand and give support.

Most all of the ADHD books I own are really about suppressing the DaVinci gene (impossible!) so the individual will better fit into society and relationships--a recipe for further neurotic behavior. This book is about how non-neurotic DaVinci's have changed society for the better. This information has given me the knowledge, motivation and courage to move ahead with my life. I intend to read it again and again. I expect it to become the new ADD'er's "bible."

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I had another star to add to my review, April 5, 2008
This review is from: The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire (Paperback)
I picked this up to see if I could draw a bead on some aspects of my bipolar disorder. When I bought it, I already had learned steps to control my illness and it had mostly vanished. I had been devastatingly sick for 8 years and increasingly well for about 2 when I found this book. I was not satisfied that I'd looked under every rock for info to heal myself fully. This book turned out to be a HUGE missing piece!

First, let me say, it's NOT a book about bipolar or mental illness but it applies to many of us in these categories by default. Not all of us but some. I was one. I am someone who believes my handling or mishandling of life and my mind is what partially led to my profound illness taking root. I thought this before I found Garrett's book. But he comfirmed it for me on a whole new level I'd never considered.

He also confirmed other bits of science and psychology I'd found elsewhere and adopted as my own. This sort of third party unrelated cross backing of ideas excited me! He confirmed much of what I intuited or had heard or read elsewhere about why some of us melt down mentally.

Some of his material is sort of deep and mystical in feel and you have to have a certain amount of understanding within you about yourself to really climb onboard. Other facts he brings up are solid science but really farout stuff, nonetheless. But I love when a scientist vouches for my trippier thoughts or clarifies with hard data what I only feel to be true.

It's this simple. If you're dissatisfied with life but know you're made of a different thread than most around you, then buy this book. Like me, you possibly just need better guidance to crack through to a level you're right on the edge of but don't know it.

My family members read this book and confirmed that Garrett had absolutely pegged people like me. It's as if he personally interviewed me to write this book. There was almost no page that did not apply to me.

If you're the risk taking, adventurous sort; if you find what most feel is comfortable to be annoying as hell; if you have set higher standards for yourself but can't seem to find how to fulfill them, then buy this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Your book is like an owners manual for me!, December 28, 2005
This review is from: The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire (Paperback)
I have been diagnosed with ADD. I ordered Garret's e-book yesterday from www.davincimethod.com. I stayed up most of the night reading it and took a vacation day from work today to finish it. I can't remember the last time or if I have ever finished reading a book that was more than two hundred pages long. Your book is like an owners manual for me! How did you discover so much about me? Thank you for giving me precious insight and understanding about myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars More helpful than just about anything else I have read, October 19, 2007
This review is from: The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire (Paperback)
Helped me immensely in just recognising I was different and why I was different and most importantly ceasing to be ashamed that I could not believe and act like all the sheep. It is a bit "popular psycholgy" and loses the thread after the first 96 pages but I found it more helpful than just about anything else I have read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book For Risk Takers and Thrill Seekers, May 11, 2006
This review is from: The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire (Paperback)
Reading the DaVinci Method was one of the best things I have ever done to help my brilliant but troubled 20 year old son.

The book has shown me how to help him channel his wild personality to be successful and productive! I didn't think this was possible before now. He dropped out of college and is working as a ski instructor at a local mountain, but I know he would like to do more with his life.

When I started reading this book, I was afraid it might be some sort of fluffy marketing money-maker, but it is chock full of helpful, practical information and easy to read. It was interesting to read that this type of personality is caused by a gene, so he doesn't CHOOSE of his own free will to be such a wild kid, and that he can use his traits to his advantage to do great things.

This book points out that America was built by risk-taking and thrill-seeking explorers, and though they were distractable and impulsive, they were the revolutionaries and innovators who made this nation great.

5.0 out of 5 stars If I could give this book ten stars I would, July 4, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire (Paperback)
I felt like an island my whole life. I never realized how controlled my behavior was until I read this book. In the first chapter alone, I shed years worth of tears. This author understands. There is truth to his words. If you have ADD, you have a strong sixth sense. You'll get it when you read it. You'll want to throw away your drugs and celebrate the unique person that you are. If you have just been diagnosed with ADD, this is the first book you should read. If you are considering drugs to make you "normal" read this book first. It is revolutionary in scope, much more so than The Secret in my opinon. It should be pasted on billboards and talked about on Oprah until we have classes in school that cater to our type rather than drugging us into submission.

I had to come back and update my review. I recently finished reading A book called, The Career Guide for Creative and Unconventional People by Carol Eikleberry. It was written in 1973 and pretty much discusses The Artistic personality discussed in the Davinci Method. In it, Dr. Eikleberry also states that a surpressed Artist becomes neurotic.
