Great value but requires some assembly with no help from instruction book,

It sounds great and is a great value for the $60 price. However, we bought it as a surprise for our child and to make it ready to use when unwrapped, I did the pre-assembly (attaching the bridge, tuning/tightening the strings). The instruction book says (paraphrasing) "take the violin to your music instructor." The website for the company is unhelpful in further information. But again, once ready to play, it's great. I just wish the instruction book and website were more helpful.

Very nice violin. First musical instrument brought from Amazon. Violin works fine, all string are in place and violin is in new condition. Excellent for the price, only piece that was missing is the cleaning cloth. Shipping Box that it came in was long and slightly bent near the bottom (possibly due to delivery?) Violin case is in perfect condition. Will buy again for replacement if needed.

I bought this set and the first time it came with a broken bow. I think they had shipped it with the bow strung too tightly and the horsehair had snapped during transit. The replacement that they sent, however, looks and feels really good so far. Great for the price, and I didn't have to wait very long for the replacement at all.

I received this violin in July 2011. I opened the box thinking, "Wow it looks nice I can't wait to play it". When I finally got it all figured out and ready to play I noticed the bow was a little warped but it still works. Excited I put it on my shoulder placed my chin on it and Pulled the strange bow across the D string. To my disgust I heard a horrible shriek! I really didn't know much about violins so I assumed cheap violin cheap sound. Found Out I needed new strings (dominant and Picastro are the best), a new bow, and any other rosin that absolutely not the junk that came with it. I was not off to a good start. Over time with these new essentials to my violin I started to notice a change in the sound. Gradually more and more it started to sound better and better. Now I can play a song or two without it shrieking or sounding like a tin can. Student violin is a good description but I payed almost nothing for something that sounds as good as another violin my sister owns and paid over 2000 for. Hope this advice helps.

I purchased this violin for my daughter as a present. Shipping was fast,it arrived in about 1 week. This was our first experience with a violin, so we were excited by the beautiful varnish and look of this violin, as well as the nice carrying case. Our bubble was burst, at my daughter first violin lesson, her teacher informed her that the E fine tuner was defective on the tailpiece, and the pegs needed either adjustment done or replace them. Since a 1 year warranty came with this violin, I contacted the seller, and the manager (Ryan Struck) sent me an replacement (he was very helpful and courteous). I had to take the violin into a music shop for an adjustment on the pegs, because they wouldn't stay in tune. So far everything seems to be working fine. My daughter really enjoys playing it, and the sound of this violin sounds good. I couldn't give it a 5, because of the instrument issues, but because customer service was so great in behalf of the excellent customer service, I had to up the rating. I'm not sure I would recommend purchasing a student violin on-line, especially if you do not have someone who is knowlegable to assist in what to look for in quality, sound, structure etc. All in all, we are learning alot about violins.

My daughter needed a second violin to leave at school. This violin came unassembled; however her teacher was able to assemble it. The markings are present to align the violin strings, some violins do not have this and it costs a lot of money to have this process done. It plays very well; my daughter is in honors orchestra A very good purchase.

I thought it was a great deal and it arrived all nice and shiny very promptly. However, after I told my son to take this violin to his orchestra teacher to get bridge attached and tuned - bad news came back. Teacher told us that we need to buy all new strings and pegs; one of the pegs was also missing (I did not notice that at first). Apparently the violin's sound is not what teachers like to hear during intermediate orchestra performances... I decided to return this item and buy another one, better quality and unfortunately more expensive one... :(
