I honestly can't understand why more people don't love Vinnie Moore. His technical skill is amazing, but he's also got the soul that some others lack. This isn't just a shredfest, this is a showcase of great songwriting too. The songs, if you've never heard Vinnie Moore before, are like video game music (he actually did the music for a Japanese game a while ago), especially The Maze. The neo-classical influences are preety strong, yet they're blended pretty well with rock that remiunds me of some futuristic nightscape or something poetic like that.

Anyway, you should get this even if you don't like Joe Stumps or whoever (Joe Stumps is too sonically boring anyway, he never changes volume and never stops soloing), because the songwriting and contrast is really excellent.

I play jazz bass actually, and I had never heard of him until I saw him at a Berklee clinic, and that same day I ran out and bought this album because it had the best of the Maze album with some other great stuff. If you only buy one neoclassical shred guitar album in your life, make it this one, you won't be disappointed.

Vinnie Moore is one gifted guitar instrumentalist. Not only providing one incredible all guitar albums I ever heard with The Maze, but this 12 track CD holds up very well against most other live CD's that require a singer. This particular CD ws recorded during Vinn's 1999 tour with MSG and anyone who went to those shows or own a copy of MSG The Unforgiven Live will immediately notice that he used the same, very talented musicians as did Schenker. But back to the album, 6 are off of his most recent Maze CD, including Rain, Thinking Machine, Never Been To Barcelona, and the title track. Other Vinnman classics are Vinnman's Brew, and Melting Pot. Any own who wants to hear an incredible display of musicianship where all participants get there 2 cents in the spotlight have to pick this one up.

With the killer backing of Shane Gaalaas on drums and Barry Sparks on bass, Vinnie rips through this set and will turn even the most hard core gangsta rapper into a fan with his gonzo riffage. I can see why he is the man filling Michael Schenker's slot in UFO these days.
As a side note, I saw Vinnie play during this tour the day after this recording was made. I had never heard him before, and was so impressed I went out and bought all of his albums.

This is the 1st vinnie's album i bought...and i just fell in love with it right away.....!!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! For those real guitarists...buy this cd you can learn alot from him.....well i do!!!
Got lots of things inside....neo clasiccal shred, latin tunes, very cool blues song, ballads,etc...all in ONE CD!!!

The best Vinnie Moore offering out there. I listend to the sound bites and I could tell right away this had it. Just getting around to write this review. It must have been I great show to attend. Repeated listen, Yes!

This guy can play what the blues guys do, but the blues guys can't touch this! Vinnie not only shreds but he also knows when to slow it down and play with feeling. Lots of good variety in style and tempo on this one--Ten on the richter scale!

I have been a Vinnie fan since about 1990. Not a bad live Vinnie Album. Good for Vinnie collectors or those wanting a taste of Vinnie. But if you have all the previous albums, and don't need "every" album, just make your own compilation of the listed songs.
It's nice to hear him live (and actually hit a very rare bum note). But there is not actually really that much of a live feel to the album. Just sounds like a first take (or an unedited take) in a studio.
There is certainly some really nice playing on the album.
So certainly don't hesitate if you're curious.
