This cd is a perfect introductory one for a new fan, for it offers the two sides of Wanda... the rockabilly queen and the country torch singer, although there is a LOT more rockabilyl here(thankfully). This cd features rockabilyl classics liek Fujiyama Mama, as well as a blues "Kansas City Blues", and some country/honky tonk/rockabilly "I Gotta Know" and some hillbilly stuff too. A great cd, a great price, though if you want to spend a little more and get ALL the rockabilyl classics try Ace's Queen of Rockabilly or Bear family's Wanda Rocks or just for the Gold and get Bear Family's box set, Right or Wrong! Well, you migth just want to start here, fir this sampler is such a budget price and contians all her rockabilly ESSENTIALS, and shines her in a light as more then just a rock'n'roller. A versitile and great singer who could be rough and roudy and rev ger vocie up liek a 57 Chevy or could coo sweetly like a canarie! Great cd!!!

If there's any one artist who's overdue for a nomination to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, it's Wanda Jackson. This collection showcases her early rock and rockabilly songs, along with her two big country hits and some great covers. All are excellent material. Throw in classic pickers like Joe Maphis, Buck Owens and Roy Clark and you've got a winner. And the sound! Considering that most of these songs were cut in the late 50's, the quality is remarkable--thanks to Capitol Records' first-class operation. Great stuff--Wanda at her best!

Wanda Jackson has been unjustly ignored in her own country. She cut some of the best rockabilly period in the late 50's with such classics as "Let's Have A Party" and "Fujiyama Mama." This collection also contains some of her biggest country hits as "In The Middle Of A Heartache" and "Right Or Wrong." It's almost hard to believe, but her version of "Riot In Cell Block #9" is as good as the one by the Coasters. Wanda Jackson became a born-again Christian in 1971, but she still performs her old hits in concert. I saw on her web page that she is going to Sweden toward the end of July for a month-they still love Wanda in Scandinavia! If you love country, rockabilly, adn rock n roll, this album is a certified 5 stars. WANDA RULES!

This gal can tear the room up. So much energy and what a voice. One of the best singing stars. She has a style of her own, a voice of her own. She can pump an audiance up and turn right around and calm them down. She is the BEST

This record is a must from the middle of the 50's .
Excellent singer , very good musicians and an excellent recording .
This record is still amazing and seems to sound very modern due to the quality of the recording and the mastering.
I recommend this record to all rock and roll fans

She was first female rocker, just now getting the long overdue credit she deserves....listen and wonder why it took so long, she needs to be the next to enter the R&R Hall Of Fame. Rock On Wanda!

WANDA JACKSON-VINTAGE COLLECTIONS: WANDA JACKSON's sultry mix of rockabilly, RNB, and straight up country twang came off like a rowdier version of BRENDA LEE; she could knock out the rollickin' barnburner LET'S HAVE A PARTY or peel off a tearjerker like RIGHT OR WRONG with equal guts, passion and conviction. Her ass-kickin' cult classics FUJIYAMA MAMA, HARD HEADED WOMAN, and HOT DOG! THAT MADE HIM MAD all sizzled hotter than a branding iron, riddled with trademark yips, screams, and jeans-bustin' tension. She also waxed fine-as-wine covers of RIOT IN CELL BLOCK #9, IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE, and KANSAS CITY, stamping 'em all with her sassy delivery and leathery tough chick vocal style. I GOTTA KNOW and MEAN MEAN MAN are further no nonsense delights and IN THE MIDDLE OF A HEARTACHE is as perfect as any PATSY CLINE ballad you care to name. A purring sex kitten that brandished a honky tonk whip, WANDA JACKSON wasn't nicknamed "the female ELVIS" for nothin'.

This was my first Wand Jackson cd purchase and I absolutely love her!! Her voice is amazing. One song it's pure country soul and the next is total Rockabilly. I can't get enough of the cd. Even my kids that are ages 4 and 9 love it. My son goes around singing one song and my daughter goes around singing another. Every song is incredible. I can't say enough good things about Wanda Jackson. Even after all these years she's still got it too!

i was very pleased with the cd, i heard samples online before hand and the sound was true to what i had heard. the item was packaged effectively and i recieved them the date they said i would. i am very happy.

Very deserving of her new appointment to the Rock N Roll Hall of flame. She is not the queen of rockabilly music for nothing, this is one of the best anthologies I've ever heard, also on of the funniest. Love live Wanda!Vintage Collections Series
