This book brought back so many fond memories of the little Coats & Clarks booklets that taught me to crochet more than 40 years ago! I enjoyed the glimpses of the old photos and instructions included in the book, plus the wonderful updated patterns with projects photographed in modern yarns. Some of the projects are kitschy and retro, while others look like they could have been designed yesterday. Divided into the categories of Kitchen Aids, Entertaining Tables, Bed & Bath Décor, and Cozy Rooms (afghans and pillows), this book is terrific. Highly recommended.
This book does a really good job of color selection changing these vintage patterns into something modern that you'd be proud to create and use in your home. It is well written with both visual and written instructions and full color pictures.
Somewhere along the years I lost all my Coats & Clarks crocheting booklets. I had also put my hooks aside for several decades. So when I decided to pick them up again, I was happy to find this book in my local yarn shop. Although it is not all-inclusive of every pattern I ever had (oh well!) this book is a nifty replacement for some of those vintage patterns. The patterns include both written and diagram instructions.
