Compared to the 1930's compilation, this DVD shows more strucure, in that individual film clips can be selected and there is a progression from mild to 'wild', and a wonderful photo gallery that shows women always are women, with no changes in equipment. In addition, the clips show clearly that current erotica shows no great leaps in technique and variety than what was done long ago by your grandparents, etc. The clips are a bit uneven, but probably the sourced materials are not in pristine condition. In America at that time, erotica ('smokers') were done by professional camera men, as they were the ones who had access to the necessary equipment, using their friends. The clips in this DVD are French, and the actors are ordinary people and many would consider most of them as a bit plump. But, they seem to be having a good time. As an addition to a bit of history, this DVD is good and a bit better than the 1930's DVD. This DVD is for those who wish to relive history and not for those who want crisp color and crystal clear shots. The musical sound track on this DVD could have used a bit more variety and pacing. The music recycles, and sometime the tempo changes during the film clip to another sound track which didn't have to happen.

This collection is put together better than the previous one (from the 1930's), with a menu and so on. However, the choice of videos is much more narrow than that one. Does that mean only one type of erotic movies were made in the 40's? The movies shown here have a heavy reliance on lesbianism and very mild B&D (half-hearted spankings mainly), which is ... well, not my taste. I don't want to say boring, but I enjoyed the first collection more than I do this one.

The film quality is low, but given the age its to be expected. The music is also great, lots of 30's and 40's jazz and swing. No modern crap porn music here. There was very little dialogue, most are silent with only dialogue text between scenes and even then it's in French. But it was all pretty sexy, many films had a home movie quality to them. Some were outight silly, some were rather tame; but all in all was good stuff for anyone interested in vintage.

I watched this with high expectations, I purchased the 1930s erotica before and was pleased. This one was even better! It had a little spanking and whipping scenes, softcore and hardcore. If you like real erotica, and want to see how they made films in the past I suggest getting this, you won't be let down.

Yee Haw! I bought this out of curiousity expecting some lame soft core action. However I know why in my grandpa's day they used to call oral "the French." I see pornography hasn't changed one bit. All the hardcore stuff is there accept for a couple things. Its still good titillation and really interesting what smut was like in the good ole days. I often wonder if my grandpa's brother who was part of the Normandy invasion encountered any of this stuff while he was in France. Made in the 1940's I wonder how late or early because I know if it was during Nazi occupation they really had to do these movies in secert. Shown in whore houses,sent to Frat houses and dirty basements for people who could afford movie machines and ordered from bogus foreign film front company's these films are interesting look backs at what porno was like and how it hasn't changed that much.

NOW, don't take this one toooooo seriously; but it is fun and the bodies are quite good - of special note is the still photo gallery ~ devine shots!

HOWEVER, this collection is not as good as the previous 1930 set, but well worth having. A great deal is 'tongue-in'cheek' - make of that what you will. Especially the Santa sequence with that rather odd machine is it?

The nurses have a field day in "Clinic Gone Mad" - great uniforms though and mentioning that - there's quite a deal of B & D here - but in a very genteel sense.

See it with a loved one ..... still delivers a stirr or two and many a giggle!

I liked the movie itself. It was better then most I've seen from this decade. However the tape broke the first time I tried to rewind it: I was looking forward to watching it again but it looks like I won't get to.

The quality is very poor. Just a money maker for the producer. Don't buy this unless you are okay with amazingly poor video and no ambient sound.

Dissapointing, boring and bad quality... dull dull dull.
