Full of intrigue and wine..,

This review is from: Vintage (Kindle Edition)
The premise of this story is different women try to create different vintages of wine. You get out of this book exactly what this cover shows, a mysterious women holding a glass of champagne.
Vintage follows three women who enter the man's world of wine-making. Madeleine Arsenault is the daughter of a French champagne-maker, and is left his vineyard when he dies. Madeleine wants to produce a vintage wine of her own, and is determined to prove her critics wrong and to rise to the top of the champagne world. Kelly Elson, a chambermaid in a hotel is also left a vineyard in a will, but she doesn't want anything to do with it until circumstances lead her to moving there. Lastly there is Christina Morgan, an American model whose marriage and career are in ruins. Christina is determined to create an amazing vineyard because that is all that was left of her glossy marriage. The characters are all incredibly different, yet all have the same drive despite their different backgrounds and outlooks. The book had me right from the beginning and you are left rooting for each women to triumph in this male dominated world.

I enjoyed the book. I liked the setting that it took place in. If you like wine and are into the whole "vinyard" thing, then i would recommend this book for you.

Good book if you are looking for a simple, sexy and glamorous storyline. There were a bit too many characters in this book for me but overall I consider it beautifully written.

Very hard to get through...,

The book in of itself was somewhat entertaining. I'm a fan of romance novels, but there was waaaay too much sex even for me. It seemed like every other page was filled with it. The characters themselves left a lot to be desired and several of the storylines felt incomplete at the end. I think one of the 3 main characters, Kelly, was the most frustrating. Whenever it got to her section, I wanted to skip ahead. It wasn't a book I'll re-read and will probably sell or give away.

I miss not being able to watch new episodes of Sex and the City or endless movies like "Priceless" or "The Girl From Monaco". This book plants you in a place in between yet adds sophistication and thankfully - better sex.
A fun journey and an expected, yet also unexpected ending. Loved it and I can't wait for Darling's next book "Priceless" later this year and "Temptation" in 2011.

entertaining witty satire,
This review is from: Vintage (Mass Market Paperback)
Madeline Arsenault returns to France following the death of her renowned vintner father to save the declining near bankrupt family business. Londoner Kelly Eldon would prefer to sell her inheritance from the father she never met when he was alive, but the will stipulates five years as the owner. Supermodel Christina Morgan received one thing from her former husband that she rejoices in, a California vineyard that she believes will allow her to prove she is not just a has been.
While the three ladies strive to win the prize for best sparkling wine of the year, Mathieu Randon plans to prevent the newcomers from competing fairly with his vintage. Soon the four rivals will understand what vino veritas means. VINTAGE is an entertaining witty satire that lampoons the fifteen minutes of celebrity fame in modern western society through her strong cast; especially the three female vintners. The story line contains an interesting insider look at winemaking that is interwoven into the prime plot of the contest for the prize. Wickedly clever with its mild mocking of knighting people as the icon of the nanosecond, readers will appreciate Olivia Darling's intelligent contemporary while wondering if VINTAGE will make her a bestselling star.
