5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Introduction to Electronics
We purchased this for our daughter (8 yrs) and she loves it. It does a good job of explaining electronic concepts and allows for varying levels of experience to enjoy the projects. Everything you'll need is included and the experiments are flexible, progressive and "really cool".

3.0 out of 5 stars Great product/gift for 7 year old
I bought this for my 7 year old son and he has really enjoyed the projects. However, I am concerned that it is not as educational/instructive as I would have liked. Furthermore, I'm even more concerned that due to the low-cost construction it may not last until next Christmas.

For any manufactures that read this, I would recommend including a 2D bar code...

Those are the noises my nephew, with some help from his father, was making with this kit after just a few minutes. We gave it to him for his 7th birthday and, though a bit young to go it alone at first, he is learning a lot and it is a great activity for him to enjoy with his parents, grandparents, etc.
It's a great toy AND educational tool.
He is at a stage where he wants to really figure out how things work and LOVES the kit and the oportunities for experimenting it offers.
While I was driving home from his birthday party he called my cell phone to let me listen as he talked into it and his voice came out on the radio.
It's a hit.

I have a 9 year old son. I got this for him last Christmas. I only bought it because I remembered when I had something similar to it a long time ago. I remembered how much I learned from it about electricity, and how it got me into it. The look on my boy after a few hours playing with it was just the same as I had years ago. This toy is very enjoyable and educational at the same time. I have another boy (5years old), and he doesn't know how to play with it, but he has an intrest of the sounds it makes, and some of the projects you can have your voice broadcasted through a weak AM channel. My son took it to school to show and tell, and the teacher asked him if he can bring it again so they can work on some of the projects it has in it. All in all it is FUN 4 ALL ;)

This set has been around for a while, because received one for Christmas when I was 11. I worked as a computer maintenance tech in the Air Force, and as an electronics repair tech for several years afterward, and now I design and build guitar amplifiers in my spare time. I can say it all began when I received this set.

Not only did I do every project in the manual, but the set allows for experimenting on your own, so I never grew bored of it. It's not for every kid, but for a kid like me, it was the best Christmas gift I ever received, and I think it has had an effect on my whole life since then.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, September 13, 2005

One of our foster sons doesn't enjoy school, partially, because he is a visual, hands on learner. He really enjoys working with my husband on this kit. He'll even read (a struggle for him) the instructions so he can do a new project with it.

I bought this for my 10-year-old son who loves sciene and taking things apart. I wasn't too sure about the kit when I ordered it but my son took to it immediately. There are 130 experiments and he went through about 40 of them the first three days. I thought he would burn out and told him to pace himself, but he just h-a-d to do the most demanding experiments.

I watched as he made all the connections. To me, it looked like a dreary task, but he liked it. It could take 10 minutes to connect the wires per the diagram to make a light work or to make a sound.

A month later, he had completed everything there was to do, but he then started finding his own discoveries via experimenting outside the guide.

I figure that even if he does get bored with it now, it has been of value. I did not want to pay for the much larger set because I was not sure how well it would go over. In retrospect, I would have gotten that one.

One word of advice: make sure to use cups to sort the different wires so they do not get scattered all over the place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kids can do some amazing things with this!, December 7, 2006
This review is from: Electronic Lab 130-in-one Project (Toy)
We bought this 2 years ago for our boys, when they were 10 and 8. They still play with it occasionally. They have built the am radio, the "electronic cat" sound maker, motorcycle sound maker, LED flashing light, and the emergency siren. And those are just the projects we can remember them doing. There are many other fun projects to do and learn from. I highly recommend this.

Purchased this for our wonderful geek head nephew as a gift...a complete hit! We also bought him a soldering station and taught him how to use it. The boy was elated! Really liked the product...you get hours of enjoyment for your money! Perfect for young builder/ creator type kids!

I got this for my son two years ago for Christmas and he still uses it. It comes with an almost endless supply of ways to hook it up to do different things. It was definatly worth the money since it got used and not shoved down in the toy box and forgotten!

Bought it for my very curious 9 year old nephew and while my sister didn't think I was the best sister in the whole world ( it's kind of noisy) my nephew "loved it". He plays happily with this for hours creating different noises to drive his parents nuts.
