Editorial Reviews

We have collected the most interesting sports related movies from the 40s, 50s and 60s to bring you the only such compilation. This has movies about gymnastics, bowling, water polo, horse racing, basketball and more. Awesome rare films! Table Of Contents: (1) Oakland Women's Rowing Club (1950s) - A brief historic newsreel about a group of elderly women rowers - 1 Minute (2) The Golden Years (1960) - Brunswick bowling design at its finest! This film is very colorful and shows off the futuristic looking bowling alleys of the 1950s, with sleek curves and quasi-chrome ball return machinery - 15 Minutes (3) Good Sportsmanship (1950) - Through two examples of good decision making, two young boys realize that the game is not the end all of sports, and that building relationships with your opponents is the most valuable experience - 10 Minutes (4) Human Grace (1952) - The stunning cinematography in this movie showcases men's and women's Olympic gymnastic skills. An amazing looking film with awesome slow motion cinematography - 10 Minutes (5) Let's Go Bowling (1955) - Brunswick bowling design at its finest! This film is very colorful and shows off the futuristic looking bowling alleys of the 1950s, with its sleek curves and quasi-chrome ball return machinery - 28 Minutes (6) Rest and Health (1949) - A youthful high school track star starts to lag in his studies, sports and social life. He learns the importance of rest and how it's just hard to function optimally without a good nights sleep - - 11 Minutes (7) Willie Shoemaker at Golden Gate Fields (1950s) - This is a short newsreel about Willie Shoemaker with excellent footage of 1940s horse racing - 1 Minute (8) Aqua Frolics (1940s) - Fun sporting events to do in the water are shown here, including swimming, water polo and playing with seals. This creative movie has some of the first and finest underwater shots that I can recall from the 1940s - 7 Minutes
