5.0 out of 5 stars An award winner for any kitchen! A must have for all cooks!
The Vintner's Table - a wonderful compilation of wine parings with appropriate dishes. Beautifully designed, easy to follow and the photographs depict the finished dishes. No wonder this was an IACP award winning book. Mary does a great job in bringing the reader into the recipe and sharing her culinary background with all. A delightful book that you must add to...

I found the book somewhat disappointing because the author only wrote
about the wine varietals made at winery she worked. It was incomplete from a world of wine varietals view. For instance there is no discussion on classic varietals from Italy, Southern France and Spain like Sangiovese, Syrah, Grenache or Tempranillo.

I found it very limited in scope...

5.0 out of 5 stars *Indispensable* Cookbook for Wine Lovers, February 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Vintner's Table Cookbook: Recipes from a Winery Chef (Hardcover)
The pairing guidelines ("Wine Profiles") in this book are flawless. The format of this book makes it easy to pair wines with food using your own recipes or those included. The recipes in this book are outstanding; they are simple to prepare and use ingredients which are easy to find. If you only buy one book on this subject, make this the book.

Frederick Bahl (Waikoloa, Hawaii) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Mary Evely's "The Vintner's Table Cookbook" has opened up an entirely new approach for pairing wines with food. Her color-coordinated Taste Wheel and the companion six wine profiles make menu planning a pleasure for even the most unprofessional home chefs. Having unwittingly chosen one of the more complicated menus for my first
adventure with this book, "Rack of Lamb with Shallot Marmalade and Cabernet Sauce", I was delighted with a "winner"! Fred Bahl, Waikoloa, Hawaii

This book is pretty and is full of easy to follow delicious recipes. I highly recommend it...and it is not necessary to be a lover of wine to appreciate all this book has to offer.
