I've bought quite a few yoga DVDs and haven't been very happy with them. Especially ones by fitness industry experts who crank out a video for every fad that comes around. Seane Corn is a well respected yoga teacher who has been teaching/pracitcing for 14 years, I believe I read. She was also chosen to represent yoga for Nike. This DVD is different in that she's not teaching a class - it's filmed to seem as if it is a one-on-one with the viewer. If you've never heard of Seane Corn do a Google search on her to see some of the amazing poses she does. I've only been doing yoga for a few months so some of the power yoga videos are too difficult. This one is challenging, yet can be done by someone who hasn't been practicing for years. I highly recommend this one. I absolutely love it! I can't wait for her to make another one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Back to Basics!, April 6, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Vinyasa Flow - Uniting Movement And Breath #1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I love this video. She works through the movements so completely, your body learns the alignment gradually until it feels totally natural - she's lovely. I've been doing Baron Baptiste's yoga videos, and this one was such a breath of fresh air - not as strenuous as Baron's stuff, but great for focusing on breath and alignment, and letting go of all chatter: "when will I be able to do this better" "why do I still look fat" etc. etc. I think some of that has to do with the fact that you're just watching her - there's no class to distract you. A nice routine, a compassionate routine. Seane also shows you how to use props if you're less flexible. I never thought I'd use props, but I went out and bought some after viewing this - my body gets the right alignment without struggling and I think, "Wow - so that's what its supposed to feel like." She does do some talking about Spirit/God/Creator which turned me off at first, but I'm coming to really enjoy that part of the practice too. My only complaint - the DVD isn't broken into sections. There's an interview at the beginning that you have to forward through each time (unless you want to watch her talk again).

3.0 out of 5 stars Breathing only a bit tough to follow, November 16, 2004
This review is from: Vinyasa Flow - Uniting Movement And Breath #1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
From an inspirational perspective, I find Seane to be one of the best. My hopes in purchasing this tape was that I would have a challenging workout to do daily. There are basically two DVD's that are included; one that instructs and the second that just has breathing. The instructional was very technical good for when you are just beginning her routine. The "just breathing" DVD was a bit disappointing because I never knew when she tranisitioned from one pose to the next....a bit of voice queing would be helpful for the future.
