5.0 out of 5 stars Violao Brasileiro, August 19, 2006
This review is from: Violao Brasileiro (Audio CD)
Dilermando Reis is a musician and composer. He is unique. He is sentimental. He plays with the heart. Above all, his compositions are so meaningful, beaultiful and brings the brazilian soul from a time before the well-known bossa nova. Few people around the world knows him, but who knows loves him. He is part of me, I don't know what more to say...
Technically speaking, the recording could be not so good. But the music and the musician, the most important thing, are fantastic. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Brazilian Guitarist Composer, December 5, 2007
This review is from: Violao Brasileiro (Audio CD)
Dilermando Reis was a great Brazilian guitarist and composer. He wrote many compositions for the guitar and often, his music expressed a lot of Saudade, an inexplicable sense of longing. Many of his own compositions and those of others as well were recorded on LPs. This digitally remastered CD, Violao Brasileiro, came from his LP of the same name and contains his work. I found the sound of his guitar very metallic and at times rather annoying. Perhaps he was using steel strings as many great guitarists did in the 50s and 60s before the advent of the nylon string. Nevertheless, in the hands of a virtuoso, great music can be created. I like his music. This CD is certainly for afficionados of Dilermando Reis like myself.
