2.0 out of 5 stars Wellllllll..... August 26, 2012

Where to begin? The plot was uniquely interesting, however, trying to explain string theory to someone who doesn't understand physics is difficult, at best, and the writer really needed to consider that most readers may not understand the methods. That aside, there are multiple grammatical errors, the sentence structuring was odd and the transitions in dialogue were unnatural. The word choices seemed unrealistic and the behavior of the female lead was spotty at best. There was potential in this book, but in my opinion far too much is included. This could have been made into a fluid trilogy as opposed to years in 200 pages. A few creative writing classes, a proof read and knowledge of how the average human conversation flows would be helpful to the author. I have come across many engineers in my life and they all convey information in this halting and direct fashion. I must say, I do see possibilities, but I only completed the book so that I could write this review. I almost stopped at page 31, but felt I could make no opinion without completion. I was disappointed. Better luck next time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good idea. Lousy execution. October 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Meandering wreck of a story where the writer didn't seem to care whether any of the characters actions or choices were believable.
Heck, at the very beginning, the main character abandons her life and goes on the run on the word of an Internet troll, who has given her no information, or any reason to believe that he's anything other than some 4chan freak, making fun of her blog post. And that's not even the least plausible scenario.
The whole mess ends, for some bizarre reason not explained in the book, with an incoherent rant against politicians.
It's a shame that someone with more skill didn't put some time into crafting a story here, because it's a good concept.
Hopefully, either Mr. Herbert will mature into a decent writer, and revisit the ideas here, or someone better will run with it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Did I read the same book? May 26, 2012

Oh dear, this book was a major disappointment.

I stopped reading about 1/3 of the way in and will be deleting this from my Kindle right after I finish this review. Why? Grammatical errors galore, cliched writing and characters who acted completely nonsensically. As an aside, I now notice that the other three reviews were written by people who have no other reviews. That should have tipped me off as to the quality of this book.
