Before I even begin to review this CD, I must first say that I would have bought this CD for "Grimey" by Noreaga alone. The Neptunes always have a hot beat in their vault and while Noreaga isn't the best rapper, I am a favorite of CNN and their style. After being carried by Q Tip's "Vivrant Thang" and Cormega and The Hot Boys' "Who Can I Trust" on the first compilation, Violator is at it again with "Violator The Album V2.0". The 1st single "What It Is" by Busta Rhymes is produced by The Neptunes and it reminds you of the party jams that Busta has released in the past. It's not groundbreaking and Kelis' hook may even bother you also, but Busta definitely will have folks wanting his "Genesis" CD once it's released. "Livin' The Life" featuring Prodigy of Mobb Deep. Jadakiss & Butch Cassidy is one of the compilation's better tracks. Scott Storch, who also produced tracks on Xzibit's, Snoop's, and the slept on Jazzyfatnastees' CD, produces this song and Prodigy and Jada are able to blend well together and the hook by Butch Cassidy doesn't interfere with things at all. "Come Thru", featuring Noreaga and Styles of the LOX, is also a winner. The two are able to blend together as well and it shows that they have collaborated on tracks before. Usually, when you match two artists together on some collaborations, things don't turn out well but on "Livin' The Life" and "Come Thru" the results are good. Other noteworthy tracks are "U Feel Me" with Havoc of Mobb Deep, Fat Joe, and Remy Martin, "Options" w/Capone & Big Noyd, "Ex" w/Missy Elliott, Ja Rule and Tweet and "We Are" featuring Memphis Bleek and Geda K. The two serious missteps of this compilation are LL's "Put Your Hands Up" where Swizz Beats produces this track and for some reason the results aren't as promising as most Swizz Beats' tracks are and the worst song that I have heard in a long time, "Sexual Chocolate" by Cee Lo. I know that the Goodie Mob wanted to get away from what they were doing before and be more upbeat, but this track from Cee Lo is ridiculous. If this is any indication of what his solo CD might sound like, he better place a call to Organized Noise Productions immediately. Overall, you have a nice compilation with just a few missteps. This is definitely something to play in your ride for the summer, especially if you like Noreaga like I do.

This album is a mixed bag of good, average, and bad songs. The lead single What It Is is one of the best tracks, but Grimey, Come Thru, We Are, U Feel Me, and Options are good too. Fiend, Livin the Life, Die 3, Grind Season, and Next Generation all fall in the average group. Put Your Hands Up featuring LL Cool J is alright, but it is still kinda odd to me to hear LL try to do hardcore rap. Sexual Chocolate, Ex, Hoppin in My Car, and Can't Get Enough could have all been left off. The thing that is odd about this album is that artists like JoJo Pellegrino, Butch Cassidy, and Remy Martin all appear more than once while artists like Busta, Prodigy, Havoc, Capone, Big Noyd, Style and Jadakiss of The Lox, and Fat Joe only appear once. A problem with the album is that on some songs, one of the MCs seems out of place. Although U Feel Me is a good song, it could have been better without Remy Martin. Same for Grind Season, which would have been better without Pellegrino. Production is done by big names like The Neptunes, Swizz Beatz, Self, Just Blaze, Havoc, Irv Gotti, Bink Dogg, Scott Storch, and Jon Lighty, but some of the production is weak. Although, The Neptunes come thru big on What It Is and Grimey. The bottom line is that this album features 3 or 4 really good songs and another 3-4 good songs, but several songs are poor. Overall, pretty disappointing considering how many big names appear, although Busta, Capone N Noreaga, Mobb Deep, Fat Joe, Styles and Jadakiss of The Lox, Memphis Bleek, and Big Noyd all make solid contributions. But, artists like Missy Elliott, Ja Rule, Butch Cassidy, Remy Martin, Rah Digga, Pellegrino, Hollyhood, and Spliff Star would have been better off doing something else.

Out of 17 songs, there are about 11 good songs, the better of those good songs being Grimey by noreaga which has a nice beat but of course noreaga has average lyrics as usual, but i still like his style. Come thru by styles and noreaga, this beat is extremly good, though it may seem repeptive after a while, you will still like it, sounds sort of like "whatcha come around here for" off of vol 1, very hard lyrics of course by styles. U feel me by Havoc, fat joe and remy martin is an ok track, but i love mobb deep, and fat joe is tight, the beat is ok but the lyrics are better, thats what made me not press fast forward on this one. then after that options by capone and noyd has , in my opinion an awsome beat that sounds very much like the queensbridge rap rtyle that i love, capones voice goes perfect over it. Livin the life by Prodigy and Jadakiss, what can i say about this track? look whos on it, it cant be bad, in my opinion, 2 of the best lyricists on this album and also my 2 persanol faves. the beat is more of a mobb deep beat than a ruff ryder beat, but both P and Jada flame the track, as always. next generation by jojo pelligrino, cadillac tah, r.c. of da franchise, fabulous, fortune and remy martin all spit 8 bars while dj kay slay periodicaly yells. the beat is awsome, everyone goes good with it, except cadilac tah, hes gotta go. JoJo Pellegrino shines on this cd, he is a crazy lyricst, give him a chance, check his lyrics out more than his beats. The song they should have left off of here is Sexual choclate by Cee- Lo, ... that guy ..., the beat is horrible and the lyrics are embarrasing, he sounds like a furby. Im also sick of missy elliot being on every song made, get rid of her and Ja rule too, i cant explain how bad they .... Overall, this cd is overall a 4.3 out of 5, very solid, good lyrics and solid beats to go with it, you want party music , dont buy this, you want rap you can sit back and zone out to, buy it! but if you want the illmatic of 2001, get Cormega - The Realness, that is more than a classic...

I've just recently purchased Violator 2.0. due to the fact I was sitting in my room and going through my record collection and realised I never purchased the second Violator LP. After getting it for £3.00, I had a listen and some of the tracks I already heard before and I have to say I was kinda disapointed. Not a good as the first one, however it was nice to hear some old song that I haven't heard in a while. Took me back to my high school days, but I digress. There are some highlights, such as N.O.R.E's Grimey, Memphis Bleek, Geda K - We Are... and the hidden track Options by Noyd and Capone. Other tracks were average at best. It's funny how commercial rap has changed, from then to now. I remember hating Busta Rhymes' What It Is, but now, I'd rather listen to that than listen to Lil' Wayne's Lollipop.

Violator the management company of many hip-hop/rap artist released volume 2 of their heaviest hitters. The beats featured on "Intro" starts of with a lot to come on this compilation. The first two songs which were produced by The Neptunes were big for both Busta Rhymes and Noreaga. LL Cool J came out with something harder that we haven't heard from him in a while with "Put Your Hands Up". "Livin' In Da City" featured Da Franchise & Butch Cassidy over a west coast banger went well with their flow. The innovative "Sexual Chocolate" by Cee-Lo is in a category of its own. The upbeat beat on "Hoppin' In My Car" is something to bounce to from Hollyhood. The more dramatic of all, "Die 3" could have been a standout with its violins, but The Outfit could have put a little more seasoning on here. Still it's a personal favoriate. Beware of track 11, because it actually contains two songs and the second one "Options" is a good combination of Capone & Noyd. This album is better than some of these artist's releases. If you're a hip-hop/rap fan with a diverse collection, this is a good addition.

For starters, this album is better than the first, it has more good songs and 2 classics as well as 7 great songs, the remaining 7 are not too good or horrible songs (2 are average). A lot of different artists are on the album much like the first Violator, and all songs are produced by different people (except 3 producers do 2 songs each) so you get a lot of different styles and beats on the album. Most of the artists are big names and a few groups are collaborating on this album, with one member from each group, so you may think the collaborations are somewhat odd but they are some of the better songs on here. A good album to have for the 9 very good songs and the 2 ok ones, I'd recommend it.

#9 - 3 (Cee-Lo of goodie mobb -- I'm not a fan of his so i don't like this song)

#11 - 9 (havoc, fat joe, remy martin)

#11 (10 - Classic -- Big Noyd & Capone --song starts after the one before it ends)

This album falls just short of great because some of the tracks are of poor quality. The best tracks are Livin' The Life and Grimey. The rest are ok, except pop rappers like Ja Rule and LL Cool J should of been left off. Get the album for some nice beats though

This album is OK. There are like 6 songs worth listening to.What it is, Grimey, Comin Thru, Livin the Life, Die III and The next generation. #s 4 and 5 are OK and none of the others are worth listening to EVER!!
