Finally! Where has Violent Soho been for the last 20 years?,

This review is from: Violent Soho (Audio CD)
It was late one night when I heard a clip of their single, "Jesus Stole My Girlfriend", and I remember thinking dang, this is a really catchy song. The way the vocalist screamed through the chorus was reminiscent of some of my favourite bands, which I shall not name here. The clean verse dive-bombs into a heavy chorus, not overly complicated - no solos or whatnot. So, the next day I went out and bought the album, crossing my fingers that it wouldn't be a complete letdown.. Just another great single supported by crappy, different, weaker sounding songs. I won't do a breakdown of each song, but I must say all the songs range from really good to great. Probably 90% great. "Love is a Heavy Word", "Slippery Tongue", and "Narrow Ways" are all standout tracks. I hope these guys stay around for years to come, because they possess the type of raw energy that's unique among bands. These guys are the band that you wished were around years ago to awake you the coma of cardboard cutout bands. If you are fan of screaming vocalists (not the ones that just scream to make noise), guitars and bass that are heavy (not in a metal way), and powerful drumming (not in the nu-metal way) then you will enjoy every song on this album.
