Dear Mr. Malone,

To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the lord comes the reply of the tongue. PROVERBS 16:1

Mr. Malone I am writing in response to your book Violet of a Deeper Blue. It is the first book that I have picked up independently in months. On an urge from a friend who stated that I needed something to unwind with I went out in search of a good book. Being accustomed to books by various African - American authors I looked for a name that was familiar. That is when I saw Violet of a Deeper Blue I did not hesitate to pick up the book and check it out. I had never heard of you or your books before. I went into the reading not knowing what to expect but something was mesmerizing. The fact that Brandon and I were so similar amazed me I am a college sophomore majoring in marketing; I sometimes wonder if the dog eat dog world that entrapped Brandon will swallow me whole. But I have a distinct difference than Brandon, from the jump I try to put my plans in the hand of God. There were times when I was so angry at the actions that Brandon was taking. I had to realize Brandon was never really a part of the real world. He had always lived in a world unbeknown to anyone other than himself. I was angry that he was ignorant to his history but I realized that he was not totally at fault. I was angry when he signed the letter and trusted his boss even through all the rumors. I was even angrier that he did not try to fight the fact that he was blacklisted. I questioned my reasoning and wondered if I would have done what he had. I would have had to fight. My value would not have been deminished by the value Bob put on his life. The spit of the world could not have extinguished my fire. I liked the approach you took with him trying to discover himself. The moment he entered into the Mt. Sinai church and heard the Reverend speak I knew that his life had took a change. I knew that in fact Brandon would be OK. The title Violet of a Deeper Blue was indeed an excellent choice when Ms. Sarah spoke of the beauty and the life of the pansy I knew that it symbolized something. Brandon was a pansy though his life only lasted what seemed like a season he bloomed in that season and in the end was able to singularly brighten a room. Mr. Malone I thank you for you book. I wish you the best of luck in you career.

Violet of a Deeper Blue captures the cut throat culture of Corporate America. It allows you to experience unconditional love and friendship. Lastly, it encourages strength and perserverance. Great book. A page turner.
