The book took me a little time to get into but it was well worth it. I loved the twists and turns of this complex plot and was not dissapointed in Ms. Feathers story. I love her characters and the depth she gives them. Another fantastic job. :)

A GREAT READ!!!!,

This was the first book by Jane Feather that I read. I found it on the free exchange rack at our local Library. I became a fan of hers and have read many of her books since. This was one of my favorites and held my interest till the very last page. I can't say the same about a few others of hers. But I have several on my waiting-to-read shelf. I have just purchased "Venus" and can hardly wait to read it.

Pleasing Stand Alone,

This review is from: Violet (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a pleasant, if formulaic, stand alone historical romance by the author of the present Blackwater Brides trilogy. An older work, it vividly paints a rather complicated story of revenge and intrigue, spanning time in Spain, France, and England, during the Napoleonic war. The heroine becomes attached to an English high-born officer in Wellington's corps, and he ends up taking her back home to Cornwall. It happens that Cornwall is part of her heritage, as well. She learns to be an English lady, and helps to foil a family villain. The story ends happily, as most romances of this kind do, but not before some swashing and buckling by our hero and unwilling lover of Violet.

Gripping and Unconventional,

Love the book in part because the heroine is not your typical milk-water virgin swooning after her first kiss. Interesting plot in the midst of the Napoleonic wars. If you want something different than the normal formula and a great read I highly recommend it.

This one put me to sleep!,

This review is from: Violet (Paperback)
This was my first novel by the author, and now I know I am never gonna pick up any of her other books. The story was so slow and boring that I couldn't get past the first three chapters. After I started to find the hero as well as the heroine irritating, there was no point in reading it further. One of the few novels I didn't manage to finish! |
