4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price
I purchased this tv on sale for $449. For the price, I'm very satisfied with the picture and overall quality. The sound is okay, but I will probably add surround sound soon. The tv takes about 6 seconds to power on and I cannot program for cable remote - minor annoyances. My tv had no dead pixels, no damage from shipping and was quick to install. I'll probably upgrade...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good TV just like previous Author BUT
Solid construction, Good sound through TV speakers and real nice Black Levels. I know this stuff all around and this was a gift so I'm not biased here. The ONLY problem I have is that the Digital Channels have a problem when tuning through them and it may be MY set.
Also this Does NOT have a 1:1 Pixel setting for using as an HDMI PC monitor so your Video card needs...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, October 28, 2009

The tv takes about 6 seconds to power on and I cannot program for cable remote - minor annoyances. My tv had no dead pixels, no damage from shipping and was quick to install. I'll probably upgrade in a year or two, but my tv completely went out on me and I didn't want to drop $1,000 so this tv will get me by quite nicely.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great TV for the Price, October 24, 2010
This review is from: Viore LC37VF55 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
I have owned my Viore for more than a year now. It is still running well. I have no idea why the two negative reviewers say that it displays in 1440x900; it is true 1080p HDTV and displays all the HD content my cable provides quite well. This is my first HDTV so I don't consider myself an expert, but I was amazed by the difference when I made the switch from SD. The price is fantastic. I am sure if I paid twice the price I would get a better TV, but this is what I could afford at the time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good TV just like previous Author BUT, December 7, 2010
This review is from: Viore LC37VF55 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
Solid construction, Good sound through TV speakers and real nice Black Levels. I know this stuff all around and this was a gift so I'm not biased here. The ONLY problem I have is that the Digital Channels have a problem when tuning through them and it may be MY set.
Also this Does NOT have a 1:1 Pixel setting for using as an HDMI PC monitor so your Video card needs to compensate for the overscan all HDTVs have (Nvidia does not). Definitely is 1080P Native resolution but I think the labeling is out of whack so software is the suspect here if the viewer sees the 1920 X 1080 in TV mode. Don't like the remote, buy a programmable then.
Bottom line these days there's better sets out there for sure at same or lower cost.

3.0 out of 5 stars TINT CONTROL DOES NOT FUNCTION WITH HDMI, February 23, 2011

RED is the overwhelming color with HDMI. The tint is grayed out so I cannot add green to the picture. The advance features and closed captions are grayed out. The clock control is grayed out. I contacted Viore and they got a service man out to change the mother board. The board they sent was also defective. I am torn between just returning the TV and getting a Vizio or waiting to see if another mother board will make a difference. I am very unhappy with the people looking like they have sunburns. I can adjust the tint when the TV is on AV1 or 2, but the picture quality drops from 1080 to 720 on both the TV and the VCR. That is not acceptable to me. We also tried to put the signal on Component - tint is still grayed out. Needless to say, this is very frustrating.

1.0 out of 5 stars MisClassified as 1080P. It is 1440 X 900 Only, December 4, 2009
This review is from: Viore LC37VF55 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)

<<<<<< Superb 1920 X 1200 HD Monitor and a Lousy HDTV >>>>>>

This is a puzzling case of erroneous classification! .... I am not certain as to upon whom we should rest the blame; whether The manufacturer, the importer-distributor, or Amazon! But the same problem is inherent in all the models of this VIORE; classified as 16:9 and 1080p full HDTV, while indeed it is not.

I am inclined to believe that this set was designed as a 19200 X 1200 HD Monitor, and subsequently the manufacturer added a digital TV tuner, then classified it as a 1080p HDTV. There is an intrinsic problem with this, if that was the case. The native resolution is 1440 X 900 Only resulting in a distorted image.

a resolution of 1920X1200 by necessity requires a screen aspect ratio of 8 : 5, which is 16:10. This aspect ratio does not translate into 1080p which requires a screen aspect ratio of 16:9. The result is when you use it as a computer monitor you get a full HD of 1920 X 1200 which is superb. Once you switch it to TV mode, however, the image becomes compressed horizontally and stretched vertically; in other words, the image is distorted, and cannot be corrected due to the fact that the tuner processes the signal for a 1440 X 900 resolution, because the screen can support only this number according to its aspect ratio.

If you have a need for an ultra large computer monitor with a 1920 X 1200 Resolution, this VIORE is perhaps the best value in this category out there. It is an outstanding HD monitor but a lousy HDTV.

Conclusion: This is a superb 1920 X 1200 HD Monitor, bang for the buck without equal, and at the same time, it is a lousy HDTV.

2.0 out of 5 stars LIES! Native res ONLY 1440x900, November 8, 2009
This review is from: Viore LC37VF55 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
As stated above, the native resolution of this monitor is only 1440x900 per EDID. The only good thing about this TV is that it can be had fairly cheaply, on Newegg for far cheaper than here.

Crap OSD, junk remote, runs hot, loud, takes forever to switch plus 1440x900 native res = trash unit, in fact that is where mine is going, the TRASH!
