Great picture and features, lacking customer support,

First , let me tell that for its price and quality the product gets 5 stars !! Amazing picture quality and feature ( where else do you get to tweak individual RGB color values !!!) The constrast is awsome 4000:1 and its the latest in plasma generation as such a bargain ( I ended up buying slightly higher few week back, but still have no complaints). The thing which I did not like was a less than steller customer support. For someone spending more than 2K on a TV, its not very happy experiance to spend any time on holds or get transferred here and there before getting the question answered.

Think about this one and do some research,

I was given a Viore TV as a Christmas gift in 2005. Its model number was Viore PDP42V18HA. It worked perfectly and it had a stunning picture. The problems arise almost a year to the date it was bought. It was bought on black Friday. One week before Christmas it just shut off. I thought I had sit on the remote. When I figured out that it wasn't even in standby mode I knew something was wrong. I tried to find a reset button (nope), I tried letting it set for a couple hours thinking perhaps it had overheated (nope), so finally I took it to a TV repair shop. He just called today the power supply is bad. Of course Viore is in the clear cause their warranty is just for a year. The TV repair guy calls Viore and can't get a straight answer about who makes the parts, they say LG but he can't find a match with his supplier of LG parts. So now I am stuck, he says even if he finds the match it will be around $400 or so dollars with parts and labor to fix. My suggestion to anyone looking to buy a high def TV is to go ahead and save up the extra money and put it towards a name brand.

This is an awsome tv for the price. There are only few Plasma manufacturing plants in the world ( 12-13) and every plasma manufacturer gets their TV's from them. And I can tell this one looks every bit like the pioneer ones. The first day I hooked it up I simply was lost for an hour watching PBS HD streaming of a nature show. Can't wait to get my HD cable hooked up. Being a 5th Generation plasma, Its the best you can have.

I bought the Tv for $997.00 at Walmart and it works pretty well for the price. Recommend purchasing the 3 year extended warranty for $199.00, service is handled through Walmart not the manufacturer which is phillips. Very common to get logo bug burn in on this TV so don't fall asleep with it on or the logo will burn in.

I'm giving it 4 stars only because I bought it for $2200 just 2 months back and now it can be had for less than that. But the picture is amazing, HD is breathtaking. I never liked Discovery channel at all but after I had this TV and hooked it up to my HD cable, most of my "TV watching time" is spent watching Discovery HD Theater. This Tv has all the latest features including DVI, PIP, etc. The price is simply unbelievable. Other 42" ED plasmas are selling for more than this price whilc this is an HD and other HD 42" plasmas are at least $1000 more than this one. I'd recommend it to everyone.

All Pros, no Cons. Magnificent picture quality, stunning HDTV. Bought in 06/2005 for $2300 and have been very happy since then. No issues whatsoever. The best plasma I've even own.

My Viore TV went out of commision exactly six days after the one year warranty expired. I called them and was told "We usually allow five days after the warranty as a favor to customers". The company refused to provide me with any names or phone numbers of people who might be able to repair the television.Viore is based in Bentonville, Arkansas, the hometown of Walmart. I suspect this is a symbiotic company between a manufacturer and Walmart. They have no respect for their clients and are not trying to build a brand. Saving a couple of hundred dollars is not worth it. Go for a name brand that wants to keep its reputation and will provide some customer service. My wife's $950 Christmas present lasted one year and now is consigned to polluting the earth. Do not allow your frugality to benefit one-off companies like Viore.

I bought the PDP42V18HA 42" Flat Screen on 1/30/07 from my local WalMart and they had it on sale for $850, so I bought it along with the 2YR extended warranty...and glad I did reading some of the posts seen online.I bought the Wall Hanger sold at Walmart for $80 and got it home, installed personally, and what a beautiful picture it has. I'm amazed at all of the inputs it has as I've never heard of HDMI, but my DVD player came with a HDMI cable so I hooked it up and noticed immediately the difference from the regular cable and the S-Video. With all the inputs, I have my XBox360, PS2, Wii, DVD Player hooked up with jacks left over....amazing! With this TV, I've been brought into the world of Digital TV as I don't use a satellite or cable service. I didn't even need to change my old trusty TV antenna that's hooked up in the attic...so I get stations I didn't even know were out there. We watch alot of movies and play alot of games. The Wii Sports takes on new life when battling it out on Tennis or simply bowling. The resolution is stunning. With the Xbox 360, I can take advantage of the 1080i and feel like I'm playing a movie. This has certainly been a best buy and I feel better knowing there is an extended warranty to back me up in case there is a need. This model seems to have disappeared from the market altogether...

PDP-42V18HAI've generally been happy with this TV, which I bought in early 2007. Other reviews are correct that if you call Viore, they will at best be unhelpful and will at worst be rude. They actually made fun of me a little for buying a TV at Wal-Mart and believing someone who worked at Wal-Mart who told me that this TV would be compatible with a universal remote purchased at Wal-Mart. Given that I don't think you can buy this TV anywhere but Wal-Mart, I don't think they are in a position to make fun of people who buy things at Wal-Mart. Anyway, the picture is good, and the internal speakers aren't even really all that bad for built-in speakers. Its downsides are 1080i only (but that is clear on the package), it is bothersome to have to cycle through all unused inputs to change inputs, and the biggie - Viore won't allow producers of universal remotes - even the ones sold at Wal-Mart - to have programmable codes that allow universal remotes to control the TV. |
