I had this product professionally installed and have never had any problems with it. The range is amazing; quarter of a mile I think, and I love the indicator which tells me if the system was activated or not. If installed and programmed correctly, the car CANNOT start on its own. It's not possible- you have to unlock the remote first, as if you're getting it out of sleep mode. You just activate the remote and then tell it what you want it to do; i.e. start the car, unlock/lock the doors, open the trunk. I have had other Viper remote starts which did start the car on accident when the remote was in my pocket. This system will give an error signal, beeping for a couple of seconds, if something has been pushed without activating the remote first. This system has performed every command I have given when in range. Start the car before you leave home, are at the check-out lane, before leaving work, ... you'll be in a comfortable climate when you get in.

I've installed dozens of these and I haven't had a single problem with any of them. This is the best bang for your buck. I usually get the refurbished ones for about $100 and they sell like crazy. I always tell people to choose this over the one way alarms. This system is only a little bit more but has a TON of feature. If you want longer range and an LCD remote, the 5901 and 5902 are great systems too. But this is more than enough range for most people and it has a nice slim remote that looks great.

The product comes with everything described and more. There is a mobile feature that can be added. The key is getting a knowledgeable installer. I'm an Electrical Engineer but I'm glad I found a very good installer. This would be a rather daunting task even for the most inclined DIY. There are just little tricks of the trade that are needed for a great installation. The product itself is great.

Plain and simple, I love it. The remote start works great, the alarm is just the right sensitivity to satisfy me, the sensitivity can be changed with the remote. It's feature rich and if you look online, each of the extra modules for it are about $20 to $30 so I believe its going to be a well made investment.

As far as the transponder buttons being pushed in peoples pockets, there is a lock feature on the remote that makes your push a the function button and then unlock to unlock the remote and then you can continue with normal remote operation, it will automatically lock itself after 60 seconds and will not lock itself if your car is running.

To enter the transponder's programming menu, you hold down the function key for 12 seconds. it will beep after 3 seconds signifying vehicle selection, just ignore it and keep holding the function key down until the amber light is lit on the top and a long tone is pressed. After the amber light is lit, you want to hold the unlock key for about a second. that will bring the remote into it's programming menu. If you want the specifics on all the options such as power saving mode and such you'll have to look it up in the owners manual. To enter the transponder in it's safety mode, you will press the lock key. The lock key's LED will light up signifying that feature is currently on. If you want to turn it off, just follow the same steps.

This Viper remote start alarm combo it the best alarm made. I've installed plenty of these models, but love this model because of the ghost lights in the key fob. The key fob is thin and functional. It also is capable of being added to vehicles with manual transmissions! It also works with vehicles with tricky door triggers. You will not find a better alarm on the web.
Sure, you can find cheaper remote start alarms on the web, but non are more reliable nor reputable than Viper/DEI. You want the best, look no further.

item was shipped and received as promised. Was not a simple install and took longer than I would have liked, but it works great have had no issues with it since installing. would not recommend planning on installing yourself unless you are relatively familiar with vehicle wiring, making wiring connections, or reading schematics

works great, The remote start is a lot better than I thought it would be I will never go back to just a standard alarm again.

I have had this installed for over a year now on my mazda rx8 AT and have had no problems with it. I had it installed by bestbuy and they did a great job in and out just gave them the box. The alarm is loud, it can even automatically start you car if your car gets to cold. The auto start is nice to have any time of year. Your on your way out in the summer and press the button while your checking out in the store and by the time you get to the car is has cooled down. And vise versa for winter. And there is no security issue because you have to put your key in and turn it within an amount of time or the car will turn back off. The time is adjustable. I will definitely be getting another on my next car.

Had this installed by Best Buy on my Toyota 2004 Sienna minivan. I'm surprised that we didn't need relays for the sliding doors and rear hatch (which I'm able to control with this). Extra work was required to shut off my automatic headlights in case I didn't take control of the car before the autostart automatically shut off. Pretty neat that it will give me temperature in the car before I hop in.
