I am the kind of guy who buys and loves most every book that is recommended to me by one of my mentors. As I am in the process of trying to learn and grow and apply the tools of the new social media and latest technology, when I read the recommendation I snapped this book up with great expectations. I Sat for hours in hopes of really getting the usable tools that the book seemed to promise. The recommendation, the landing page and the reviews on Amazon all had me keyed up for great. The book unfortunately delivered nothing of substance. It was a mish mash of generic, over used popular business pablum. And never delivered on the promise of usable, nuts and bolts information.

I wanted to love it. But after devouring it, sat the book down and felt like I had been duped by a great marketing campaign. I honestly feel bad about writing a bad review like this, but I feel worse about letting unsuspecting would-be buyers waste their time and money.

Not sure how all of these rave reviews ended up here on Amazon, but my guess its the product of good friends, or readers who have are unsophisticated and easily pleased.

After hearing Peggy McCall on several radio shows, I admired her enthusiasm for marketing on the net. However, there was barely anything in the book that was not mentioned in her radio interviews. I was very disappointed, and felt I was duped out of the cost of the book. The thing is, she is such a good promoter that she got me to buy the book which I rarely do when I hear someone interviewed on the radio about their new book.

Peggy McColl's "Viral Explosions" provides a very general overview on how to create a brand and launch information products on the internet. The 2 main "secrets" for creating a viral explosion that are revealed in this book are that you should use affiliates and time all your marketing activities so they hit at/near the same time for maximum impact. If your reaction to this is "duh", then this book will probably be too basic and not worth the purchase price for you.

On the positive side, this book is short, easy to read, and low cost, so it's not a complete waste of money. I gave it 3 stars because I believe the 5 star reviews for this book were posted by friends of the author. There is nothing wonderfully revealing or particularly actionable in this book except for 2 sample emails that can be used for recruiting affiliates. It's definitely NOT a 5 star book. Anyone looking for step-by-step instructions or guidance will have to buy one of the author's high priced info products.

Peggy McColl has been highly rated as an internet marketing guru, so I bought the book with high expectations and I was not dissapointed. I could feel her inspiring enthusiasm coming through the pages. As a newbie in this marketing area, the book is well worth the rave. As a good story teller, she makes the technical stuff seem easy and less intimidating.

I am already using many of her ideas and look forward to becoming a huge success with her techniques. I would and am most certainly recommending the book to everyone I know in business.

I have read many books by Peggy and I have enjoyed them, I was particularly excited about this book because I was writing my own book. She touches upon becoming partners, but for the run of the mill person who is not nationally known, she does not talk about who to connect with, where to find this Viral Explosion. Good points in it and ideas, but nothing that would allow me to take immediate action!
