3.0 out of 5 stars mixed feelings, February 1, 2005
By Fugara (Cologne, Germany) - See all my reviews
When I purchased this DVD/CD, I expected to SEE a lot more than I actually did. That Virgil Fox's performings are legendary, isn't really the question here and you will enjoy the sound quality on CD and DVD, which is really good! Maybe bass is a little bit too heavy - I do not remember St. Mary's Catherdral organ to sound that profund. The most disappointing thing about the DVD is the "lightshow", which is not the originally one, that actually took place back in 1976 in the cathedral, but a kind of computer-generated, screen-fitting kaleidoscope, that is interesting for only half a minute. All the three Virgil Fox DVDs seem to have this annoying feature in common! So, if there wasn't a short feature (the only thing, that was filmed in the cathedral) with Virgil Fox himself, showing him, playing at least a few notes and talking about Bach, I would strongly recommend to not buy this DVD/CD set, but another Bach recording of the master - on CD only.

1.0 out of 5 stars dvd is a stretch ..., June 23, 2008
This is an interesting concept for a dvd. There are no images of Dr. Fox actually playing the organ. There are some light shows which are said to be in sync with the music, and there are a few still images. If you wish to hear the music, it's a fine order. If you were hoping to see Fox playing, you will be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Foxian Feats!, June 23, 2004
By A Customer
This is a wonderful dvd release. Since these recordings were never before released, it is especially interesting. From a technical standpoint, the sound is superb. The engineers really knew how to mike and record the organ. The playing, particularly of the g minor and a minor preludes and fugues, is terrific.
