Book Description

February 9, 2009
Travel back 2000 years and engage the life-story of the most renowned woman of history. Feel the romance and the heart-break of a love affair which was sacrificed to a teenager's love for the God of her people. Walk the green slopes of the hills around Nazareth and taste and smell the filthy animal house where a woman gave birth to her child. Stand with a mother as she watched the brutal murder of her son and flee with her as she escapes the persecution of the early church. Visit ancient Ephesus and its wanton immoral worship of Diana. Lie with Mary on the grassy meadow outside her mountain home as she dies alone....... This book reveals both the godliness and the humanity of Mary the mother of Jesus, the amazing love-story which was her relationship with Joseph, and the horrendous price she paid for being who she was. You will experience the fear gendered by her perpetual struggle with "the dragon", you will weep with sorrow and you will weep with joy, but you will most certainly not be able to put down this evocative page-turner of a story.

About the Author

John Hibbert was born in Wakefield, Yorkshire, in 1946. From the earliest age he had an unusual desire to know God and throughout his teenage years spent his weekends travelling about the country to listen to the most well-known preachers in the U.K. In 1967 he left a promising career in engineering to become a preacher of the Gospel himself, serving for five years in Rotherham before moving to Mansfield Woodhouse, where he has worked tirelessly with his fellow ministers to build the Church of Jesus Christ, to the present day. He has never wavered from his adherence to the tenets of Holy Scripture as the only true standard for Christian living. Regarded by some as a controversial figure, he has fearlessly stood against the increasing trend to compromise truth at the demands of a liberal society. He has three happily-married daughters, one son and six grandchildren. He has lived through the joy and pain of fatherhood, shown a remarkable and consistent commitment to caring for people and considers himself to be only at the beginning of the fulfilment of his true calling, which is world evangelism. He has a wide experience of life, both its pleasures and its sufferings, has extensively travelled around the world in the cause of Christ and has developed a deeply-felt empathy with the feelings of people past and present. He delights to look beyond the obvious, explore the reasons and origins behind the facts, and tell the story as he believes it was, without condemnation or misplaced adoration.
