One of my Favorite Lawrence Books,

I actually have this exact vintage PB with same cover as shown displayed in my living room. I started reading Lawrence in college, and continued until I'd read and collected everything he had in print. This remains my favorite. It is a shorter story than its counterparts, i.e., Women in Love, Sons and Lovers. It lacks the graphic portrayals present in books such as Chatterly, that earned Lawrence the honor of being banned and censored. It is a beautiful story of a young girl, struggling under the weight of a theocratic and zealous father, a family dominated by an elderly matriach.. her mother having long fled the constraints. The prose is classic Lawrence, haunting, memorable and lyrical. This PB version is a definite collector's item.
