Don't Need a Stink'n Contract,
This review is from: Virgin Mobile $50 Top-Up Card (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I shopped around before deciding to go with Virgin Mobile. I was a previous Sprint PCS customer so I knew the Virgin Mobile Network would be adequate (they use the Sprint Network). The Virgin Mobile plan is simple and there are no hidden fees. Here is the breakdown...$0.25 a minute for the first 10 minutes of the day and $0.10 a minute after that. Or, $0.35 a day and $0.10 a minute. Text messaging is free to receive and $0.10 to send.
You have to top-off your Virgin Mobile phone at least $20.00 every 90 days. If you don't use your phone much, but enjoy the convenience of having it, it will only cost $6.66 a month to operate.

Expiration date; poor service,

Please be aware of two things about Virgin pre-paid:
1) Each top-up card has an expiration date. If you are unlucky like I was last time, you might get a card that expires a couple days after you receive it, and then if you didn't notice, you'd be screwed out of $50. 2) Don't count on Virgin to help you. Their customer service sucks. Long wait times, unhelpful service reps, and just annoying website. If there's a 7-11 in your neighborhood, you may want to check out their Speak-Up prepaid service, which is cheaper and has better phones, plus your balance is good for one whole year (as opposed to 3 months with Virgin).

Get the best Prepaid company!,
This review is from: Virgin Mobile $50 Top-Up Card (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've had 3 prepaid phones. TracFone, completely horrible. Never think of buying it! T-Mobile, pay too much for your minutes. (okay if you want a nice phone, and only for emergencies) And last Virgin Mobile, the BEST one. They are mostly month-2-month. Basically you buy a phone card every 30 days. Their plans can go to (lowest) $15/month with 100 minutes, to (highest) $60/month with 600 minutes and unlimited nights and weekends. They also offer plans between them. Virgin Mobile is almost like any other cell phone company except its all prepaid. You can chose the plan, you can chose texting plans, AND nights are from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Thats 3 extra hours compared to the nights starting at 9 and ending at 6. Of course, that extra early hour may not be useful to some people, but then again, it could. You are never held to any contract. And almost everything can be done online! Activating phone, adding air time, changing your plan. And when adding phone cards to your account, you don't have to call a number. You can do it right on your phone! I have put a lot research into virgin mobile, and come to the conclusion, its pretty great for a prepaid cell phone company. Gauge Your Usage,

When I bought my Rave K7 it came with $10 worth of airtime which quickly was spent due to the $2.50 you're obligated to for any call less than ten minutes. So I topped up with $50 and this was better, because when I talked to someone today while waiting to vote I chatted for about 180 minutes and used $16. Not that bad, if you compare it to your land-line long distance charges. I don't plan to put that kind of time on it daily, after all, I bought it for mainly a travel phone, to hail a cab or order pizza, that kind of thing, but it helps to know how much you think you're going to need because you will need a credit card to add to your balance.

Virgin Mobile is the BEST for Prepaid Phone Service,
By
This review is from: Virgin Mobile $50 Top-Up Card (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Virgin Mobile is the best prepaid service provider. TracFone is just HORRIBLE (minutes go as high as $.50 a minute and text messages are $.30 each and I think you have to pay to receive text messages with TracFone. With Virgin Mobile, its $.25 a minutes for the first ten minutes of the day and $.10 a minute after that. Text messages are $.10 to send and free to receive. A lot of content is available at virginmobileusa.com for putting on your phone (ringtones, celebrity voicemail greetings, MTV and Comedy Central Content, and a lot more). You only have to play $20 every three month which is A LOT cheaper than most cell phone service providers. And best of all, NO CONTRACTS!!! Virgin Mobile is the way to go for prepaid phone service.

Don't Use Virgin Mobile,
This review is from: Virgin Mobile $50 Top-Up Card (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought a Virgin Mobile phone for emergencies, the coverage is OK, not fantastic. However after little more than a year of use, I turn it on one day and it connects itself to VM and announces it is 'updating' itself. After the update is complete, I can no longer text message. I call technical support, they say 'we can't fix it, and your out of warranty, you need to buy a new phone'.
Thought it was a fluke and I got someone stupid, so I called them back, same reply 'you need to buy a new phone'. Stay away from Virgin Mobile, it's nothing but an expensive con trick.

Virgin Mobile is the worst,
By
This review is from: Virgin Mobile $50 Top-Up Card (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I too bought a $50 Top-up card for my daughter for Christmas. When she needed to top up in March, she was told the card had expired. There was NO expiration date anywhere on the card or the material attached to the card. Multiple calls to customer service resulted in no help. Virgin Mobile resolutely REFUSES to honor a Top-up card that it says has expired. You are just ripped off. Asked how they knew it had expired, since there was no expiration date on it, they said it is in the Top-up code, which means they can say ANY card is expired. DON'T BUY THESE CARDS, THEY ARE WORTHLESS.

Virgin mobile phones/service is great, but I suggest going to walmart to get these top-up cards because then you don't have to pay S&H. The mins. are .25 for the first ten minutes and .10 after that. I strongly suggest getting a virgin mobile plan (kyocera phone), but not for the heavy talker, then you will be spending to much money

Virgin mobile is the best pre-paid phone I have found.,

Both my teenage son and I have Virgin prepaid mobile phones and before that, I had a Cingular prepaid phone.
The minutes never seemed to add up with Cingular. Virgin is always there to answer calls for help like when I initiated my service for the first time and wrongly entered my phone number. They fixed it within minutes. The top up cards are a great value and so easy to add to your phone. Nothing but ease of plans and simplicity of use with Virgin.

PAY as you go phone review...
Virginmobile is trying to get your money! be careful! you get a 1000 minutes card for 50$ thinking that you will have these minutes by entering the pin number but NOOOO! there is another step you need to follow. you have to pick voice minute package which is not among any of the instructions. if you do not pick that plan, you are paying 20 cents a minute. You call them and they do NOTHING about it (except giving you 15 extra minutes -it is like a joke!). The customer service people are extremely rude and they even hang up on me! they also threaten you by saying that your call is monitored?!?! Never ever use their services for especially pay as you go phones... I would give them 0 or negative starts if I could... |
