This device is a very fast (Sprint Network) and economical way to get onto the mobile internet without having to get locked into an expensive contract. Make sure you check your account each month that you use it though. I caught them skimming MB off my account. When I contacted them on it, they gave me a $10 credit to cover what they had taken from me, but made no apologies for it occurring. If you opt for this type of service, I strongly recommend that you add your usage history to your "remaining MB" a few times a month to ensure you are getting what you pay for. The month I caught them, I had used 138 MB in my history and they showed me having 98 remaining for a total of 236 vice the 300 I had paid for. It took three e-mails, and over an hour on the phone with a "technician" to get a $10 credit out of them to make up for it. Not the sort of thing that would happen with Verizon or another first tier carrier.

Now that they have gone to an "Unlimited Plan" at $40 a month, I am upgrading this to 5 stars. You can't beat the deal on this and my previous customer service issue is negated with this new pricing tier.

$40 a month for unlimited internet, and the ability to turn it off during the months that you don't use it, is a great deal. Because of my overall positive experience with this company, despite the problem I mentioned above, I have switched both our cell phones and our mobile data to them. I now pay $90 a month ($25 + $25 + $40) for what would cost $200+ a month from VZ or ATT.

Ok, I had no major problems with the installation. Whoever wrote the software's GUI must have been a beginner because it doesn't look or behave like a Windows program. I'm a DJ/KJ/Musician and I use it to purchase requests that I don't have from Amazon. I like the coverage but the speed can be VERY slow. In rural Wisconsin I've waited as long as 20 minutes to download one song.

My bigger issue is with Virgin Mobile itself and the way it arbitrarily changes plans.

I specifically signed up for Broadband2Go because of the $20/300mb/30day plan and purchased the modem from their cellular provider (sprnt). Most banquet halls have unsecured wifi available so that gave me enough to cover the places that didn't. About a month after purchase the price of the modem dropped (no biggie, it happens with technology) and without notice to me as a customer they dropped the 300mb plan. That left me with a $10/100mb/10day plan (too little) and a $40/unlimited/30day plan (too much). I complained to them and resigned myself to living with it.

Now America's largest retailer(WlMrt)has struck a deal with Virgin Mobile and is offering a $20/1Gig/30day plan, BUT IT ONLY WORKS WITH MODEMS PURCHASED FROM THEM (WlMrt). AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!

My point is that you can't count on anything Virgin Mobile says being real. If you buy in, keep in mind that the plan can change at any time and since they've already got your money, your complaints won't count.

I think the least that they owe their loyal customers is to bring back the 300mb megabyte plan as a $20/500mb/30day plan. That way they make good on their original agreement with their customers while maintaining their business agreement with that "other" company.

    ************ 08/17/2011 UPDATE *************

Virgin Mobile / Broadband2Go has now done exactly what I proposed and now offers a $20/500mb/30day plan - thank you. Hopefully it will last for awhile.

This Device Works Great - NO DOUBT.

Just purchased this device a few days ago and I have already put it in a very strenuous Test program as follows:

    1) Drive from San Francisco to San Diego, CA and it on;y dropped signal Once in the rugged mountainous area.

    2) a 5-Hour continuous High Definition Live Streaming TV & Audio broadcasting via USTREAM.TV in Huntingon Beach area with 3G signals at about 2 - 3 bars with NO Drop Signals or any HicUps

Convenience: NO CONTRACT, HASSLE FREE. NO headaches with a 2-year contract, NO Bad Credit if you Quit early.
I need to provide a Live Broadcast Streaming TV/Audio event in Southern California and came home
Without any worries about Over Usage and Out-of-this-World cell phone bill.
Portable: YES, only as small as an USB Flash drive
Economical: Not Exactly, $100 for the device and the Megabytes are Additional, can be expensive if you have
a lot of Downloads or Uploads.
Usage: I can't Hardly Tell. It would consume about 2MB for every time you log onto their network?
The Streaming Video/Audio upload takes about 400MB per hour. I purchased a 5G plan for $60 and
still have more than half of the Megabytes remaining after about 5-hour of continuous video
streaming. People from around the World who are watching the Show really liked the full
    video/audio quality programming.

I've done some research and Learned a lot on [...] before decided to buy this device. I am Glad I've made the decision because it DID WORK and Served the Purpose. I recommend this device to anyone who may like to Try-It before Buy-It first. It will work on all computers and operating systems.

I easily connected my new device and activated it. First surprise, poor service is my entire town although the coverage map said that it should be excellent. Second, after 3 days the device stopped working with a message that said to call a number. My status for the device now said that it was not activated.

I called the supplied number and was immediately put on hold. After more than an hour I disconnected. This morning the same problem. No service at all. I have seen others with an inability to contact Virgin Mobile.

I expect some problems with coverage maps but not for a large area. I also expect phones to be answered.

DO NOT buy Virgin Mobile products.
