Great introduction to VA fly fishing,

With any guide book, there is a trade-off between level of detail and the number of streams, creeks and rivers included. This book is a great starting point for exploring VA fly fishing. Does it include every small creek and tributary? No. What it does offer is ample details on a good variety of fishing throughout the state. For each river or watershed there is info on access, terrain, hatches by season and other useful information such as popularity with other recreational users. I used this book as the principal resource for a trip to Shenandoah National Park and was not disappointed. Well done Harry.

The book describes in great detail the best fly-fishing rivers and streams in Virginia. The author explains in great detail the streams, water conditions and fishing techniques of each body of water. He also explains the access points and many details that could only be learned through years of experience.

If you are looking for a great resource of finding good places to fish in Virginia, then this book needs to be in your library. I enjoy books that not only give descriptions of the places to fish but also offer pictures of the destination and maps on how to get to the access points. In fly-fish a great deal in western North Carolina, western part of Virginia and east Tennessee. I have very similar books for these other regions, which is why I enjoy this book as well.
