4.0 out of 5 stars A Virginia Family and Its Plantation Houses, June 19, 2005
This review is from: A Virginia Family and Its Plantation Houses (Hardcover)
A really beautiful readable book which encompasses both the architectural interest of the earliest of plantation homes and the life and times of the Coles Family. It draws inspiration from a Coles Family biographical genealogy and elaborates in a cohesive interesting read. Especially handy if you are directly related to the Coles like my husband! A great gift (not too long to lose interest) complete with photos of the earliest Coles's portraits who might look very familiar to descendents when they look in the mirror and recognise the strong features of huge eyes, dark brows and lashes, square jaw, and pleasing square face...a strong beautiful family. A revelation on many levels done in a mature credible history. The pages are even fine glossy heavy stock that feel good in the hand. Get it if you can!
