Ride the world's fourth-longest escalator at the Rosslyn Metro Station; bid on a Chincoteague pony at the Annual Pony Swim and Auction; or see places where George Washington actually slept, as well as where he lived and where his grain was milled with this guide to often-overlooked attractions in Virginia.
My next two books to reach the book stores are "Chesapeake Bay Crabs" cookbook, from Pelican Publishing (due September 30, 2011) and the 11th edition of "Virginia Off the Beaten Path" from Globe Pequot Press (due October 4, 2011). I will be signing copies of "Chesapeake Bay Crabs" at Sam's Club in Annapolis, Maryland, on October 15 from 10 am to 12 noon and at Costco in Hanover, Maryland (Arundel Mills), also on October 15 from 2 to 4 pm. It's hard back, 123 recipes (including a crab creme brulee dessert) and lots of photos. Great gift - have all your shopping done by mid October! Please stop by and say hello.
I'm a naturally curious person and I figure if I find something fascinating to me I can try to make it fascinating for you. Primarily, I consider myself a travel writer although my articles rarely appear in travel sections or publications. My articles might be about hotels that provide child-proofing services or where you can buy that wonderfully comfortable pillow from your favorite hotel.
I love it when someone says, "I didn't know that."
I've written about Super Bowl trivia and grocery shopping cart design trends. I have not written about mud wrestling. I've written for the Internet, international and national publications, and more than a dozen books.
A vast army of friends and associates (and some research) keep me informed about what's happening as it's happening. You're encouraged to contribute to my knowledge or suggest a topic or magazine looking for a writer.
