Product Description

Virtua Racing was Sega-AM2's first foray into polygon gaming, and the first arcade game to use full polygon graphics. Released in 1992 as the debut title for Sega's Model 1 arcade board, the game ditched the scaling sprites of previous titles from the company for actual 3D geometry, and added four selectable points of view in the process. The Model 1 board was incapable of texture mapping, meaning everything in the game was completely flat shaded, giving a distinctive look that hardcore fans still love to dream about.

I picked this up when it first came out on the Genesis. At the time the graphics were amazing. They still are considering that this is as close as a 16 bit console can get to 32 bit graphics. I also have the 32X version of this game and the two compare VERY favorably. The only downside to this game pertains to Sega 32X and Nomad owners. Since this is an enhanced cartridge it does not work on the Sega Nomad or 32X. However it plays on the Sega CDX, all Genesis models, a well as all Genesis units that have either version of the Sega CD attachment.

The graphics are just the best of its first I've ever seen. The polygons and the clear graphics that Sega put out are just fantastic. The arcadey driving of a indy car is so fun in this game. I recommend you play.
